The late-great celebrity chef and television personality Anthony Bourdain once said that New Orleans was the only city in America where everyone should eat. He visited Nola frequently over the years and featured numerous of the town’s bars and restaurants on his shows.
Bourdain first visited the Big Easy on his show “A Cook’s Tour” in 2003 and kept coming back for more of the city’s eclectic cuisine in his later shows like “The Layover” and “No Reservations”. Bourdain once even was quoted as saying that there is no other city that is as important for traditional American culinary history as New Orleans. He further called the city’s culinary scene one of the most vibrant, diverse, and influential ones in the nation.
In this installment of Viewcation, we’re going to be taking a look at some of Bourdain’s favorite restaurants and bars in the city that is known for its cajun flare and laid-back lifestyle. Watch this video in full to see Anthony Bourdain's New Orleans Recommendations for Food & Drink.

Just a residents personal opinion here. Jacque-Imo's, Cochon, Willie Mae's definitely highly recommended to any visitor. As for Domilise's, they're a little pricey for the small portions and have extremely limited seating inside (literally 5 tables). Parkway Bakery is without a doubt the best po-boy centered eatery in the city. Overstuffed and insanely economical for the portions. No hate on Domilise's, I grew up less than a mile from it and it's been a mainstay of uptown for a ridiculously long time. Was kinda surprised to see so many "bar food" establishments listed over other choices, but also acknowledge that finding the late night or rush hour meal can be very difficult and for that reason, definitely any visitor should be aware of the less hyped establishments. Always love watching these videos. Thanks for sharing.

The fact that they recommended the savory gator cheesecake that's on Jaques Imo's _appetizer_ menu for dessert makes me suspect this is just another AI listicle

Yeah, i caught that as well…definitely not dessert, although an outstanding appetizer! Overall the place is one of the best, & reasonably priced.

Vacationed in NOLA for a week - waaay too long. My wife/I were in a food/drink coma every morning. Next time, a visit for 3-4 days is all we need. We visited a lot of places and a few of the places you mentioned Jacque-Imos, Antoines, Domilises, Emril's, and Cochon's - all very good as you and AB cited. Great vid.

Jaques-Imo’s is worth it. Always good food. Bring your appetite for Southern Creole food. Domilise’s is my favorite po’boy shop in NOLA. They’re small in comparison to others but delicious.

Most of those places are outside the French Quarter. The Quarter is the safest place. Been there many times. Dive bars are the best. Try The Chart Room on Chartress Street and Harry’s Corner both on the same street. B Macs on St Louis just North of Bourbon Street.

Just a heads up, the alligator cheesecake at jockimo's is savory and is an appetizer not a dessert. It is insanely delicious though and I highly suggest you try it. It's more like a really thick quiche. Jock imos Is my favorite restaurant in New Orleans. They have an extensive menu and everything on it is excellent. Truly something for everyone there.

Emeril’s in certainly not “in the heart of the French quarter” - it’s in the CBD. Also, clearly you have never eaten at Jacque Imo’s otherwise you would know that the Alligator Cheesecake is not a dessert.
