Losing the support of Anthony Davis is reportedly part of what cost Darvin Ham his job. What does this mean for Davis' growing power in with the Lakers, and is building the future around AD the right decision? Plus, Channing Frye believes the Lakers' job would be a death sentence for JJ Redick, is he right? The outside shot was never really there. I remember on the Thinking Basketball podcast they mentioned how 2019-2020 was the anomalous season for ADs outside shot. AD has been elite in the dunkers spot (something he was able to do better in the 2019-2021 season due to the way the team was built). The team will obviously need some better players once LeBron retires but I still think AD will be capable of being the best player on a championship team when he is 33.

The biggest takeaway for me is not necessarily tohe singular act of Darvin getting fired. I already got the relief and joy of Ham getting canned. What makes me happy here is that we are seeing AD assert himself. We already saw his play surpass Bron in last year's run to the Western Conference finals, due to Bron's injury. My end game with Ham was the WCF last year Game #1, when he rolled out that 3 guard lineup..it made absolutely no sense.. At that time Denver and its fan base were in fear if what the Lakers would do. The Laker just did something no team in west had done in 10 years..beat GSW in the Playoffs..our confidence was sky high.. All Ham had to do was start Vando his brst on ball defender,, put him on Murray, push more minutes on Dennis his best point of attack defender..ease D'lo into the series because he was the weak link in the chain.. Always have Rui defend the Joker or gordon Let bron shadow Porter..cheat off him to bring help .. Denver at that time still wasn't sure of what they were.

I think they need to max Defense so Anthony Davis need a perimetral defensive combo guard with clutch , like Vincent or schroder , Both definitely will be better . So you need a protector of the rim to use Davis in the perimeter, with vando and Reaves . You need to vando be better and catch and shoot 3 on the corner , use reaves also as a combo guard . They need to Christian wood be phisically better , I like castelton , I think hood schifino is going to be a good player , Christie , Lewis , Bronny all are good passers . . I think lakers can use the money that dlo in using in clutch time a defensive mind point guard . Rui needs to be better at perimeter with best lateral moves .add schröder for dlo and cam Redish . Keep everybody

Just hearing him analyze games, defenses. Breaking down plays, it's obvious to most, even to other players he's a brain about basketball. I remember the same talk about Lue even when he was still playing. The only difference is Lue had coaching staff and assistant coaching experience where JJ hasn't. Kerr is more like JJ in that he was a player, turned tv announcer. No assistant coaching experience except for executive and small ownership. So it's not so extreme to consider JJ.

@@JoshuaMartian-go3tm JJ has also said that Larry Bird couldn't play in today's NBA, that Jordan played in a soft era, that somehow the 6 expansion teams with 12 man rosters (6X12= 72) dumped 90 players into the league, all at once, and not slowly, over a decade, which watered down MJ's era. As for Rondo, one, he doesn't want to coach according to Bron on a podcast. He said Rondo is very smart but doesn't want to deal with entitled rich players. Darvin Ham got Darvin Ham fired. He wasn't a good in game adjustment coach. Horrible decision making by him as well. Need someone more seasoned. Vogel should have not been fired.

I have never ever heard of JJ being a great basketball mind until this off season. He's a great vet and locker room guy. Who is pushing this JJ narrative? Lol

Reddick definitely isn’t the best option for the Lakers head coaching job but he’s been widely known for his great basketball mind since he first got hired by ESPN as an analyst a couple of years ago lol

The league has always had a perception problem There are guys who are great, and can't catch a break. There are other guys who fail their way to success, and then there are guys who become the must have coach out of nowhere. JJ is that guy. Steve Kerr (even though he proved his worth) was that guy. IDK why it is, but If I had to guess I would say that JJ has a good agent. We all know how much influence Rich Paul has, but I think that there are probably some other agents out there that are exerting their influence and calling in favors for Reddick.

I think Sam would be better than JJ if those are the choices for the coach of the Lakers. I've listened to interviews with both of them. I get that LeBron knows, has played with a lot of retired players and coaches, but if you hire JJ, LeBron and him are friends, so it's going to be friends coaching the franchise. He's not going to be able to tell LeBron how he wants things. It's sort of a conflict of interest. LeBron and AD should have a say, but the organization should make the final decision. It has to be someone with some kind of experience.

I don't give a damm who got who fire, what I want is for our two guys to have one more chance, I keep watching this playoffs and saying to myself, what does guy do better than lebron and AD can't and I think nothing what they have is better role players who are just playing huge minutes that what I want, Lebron and Ad with a competent cast fighting to win the trophy

Players grow up, they get smarter and approach the game differently to put them in a good situation to be available on the court all season. Production still same or even better but they definitely pick and choose when to go all in as long as they are healthy. AD and Bron are in solid form still LOL cant be reckless and doing too much when not needed i think its longevity game at this point but yeah they are still top player for sure. Please build roaster that fits and compliment AD and Bron this time and we going to the championship. its team work and not to rely on 1 or 2 guys to save they day. Better others unlock AD and Bron to play free without thinking oh i gotta do this or maybe i cant do that coz trust aint there with others to do their jobs at high level.

AD needs to be the focal point of our offense and defense. LBJ will just have to take a back seat from him.

CORRECT. I mean how hard is it to figure out? You need DYNAMIC guard/wing, to pair with A.D. Also, a mobile center. They MISSED OUT, on Daniel Gafford.

If this team had a better coach and had a made a move at the deadline similar to Dallas they would of been contending for a title in earnest.. So in a way a wasted season because AD and LeBron were great.
