The eye socket ‘quit’ saved Dubois’ career and possibly his eye sight and faculties. He would have been experiencing very strange pain and knew he was losing his sight in that eye. He was mature in knowing when to save it for another day. Credit Daniel for that, most would have gone out as soon as they felt something on the eye but Daniel fought through multiple rounds with it in a state.

Personally I think Dubois has got all the potential to be at the top level of the division for the next 10 years. AJ is more in his prime right now, but we don't know if has fully recovered from the Usyk losses. Personally I think a really close one, but lets have fun and say Dubois TKO9 upset.

Taking the knee against Joyce was probably the wisest decision Dubois has ever made. Like you say, imagine having a broken orbital socket and taking punches on that eye from a heavy handed heavyweight. The Usyk stoppage was harder to understand perhaps but Usyk exhausts his opponents before going in for the kill. Maybe he knew a heavy knockout was coming? He’s done very well in his recent fights. I think to be fair, Hrgovic vs Dubois would have been a worthy IBF title fight, so the fact he got it, he did kinda earn it. Problem is, AJ was right behind Hrg in line for the belt, so he's the first defence.

Daniel as naturally gifted as he may be, is not the brightest kid on the block and personally I think this will limit his overall potential. I've always said I think natural talent only goes so far and in this sport the best of the best at Heavyweight especially tends to be those that are a little more switched on in the head, even recent best of their era's whether it be Lennox Lewis or the Klitschko brothers. They are all physical specimens with genius 140iq level intellect. Dubois is good enough to be a champion (which he is) but unless all the other contenders are planks of wood in the brain department, I don't think he'll rise to be the best of the best. While he is nice guy, it's a major limitation in my opinion and will affect his ability to adapt in the ring.

If Daniel comes forward from the get go looking for AJ it will be an interesting fight but as pointed out if he uses his face to block AJ’s punches then it’s lights out!

Joshua's jab is underated, fast and plenty of power. The jab alone will completely demoralise Daniel.

Usyk gave up the IBF belt because he had a mandatory defence to make, and because of the rematch with Fury, he couldn't fulfil the mandatory within the timescale required. So rather than wait for the IBF to strip him of the belt, he decided to give it up. In a sense he is right in saying he made a gift to Daniel and AJ, because he could have hung onto the IBF belt until the deadline for his mandatory defence had passed, which would be after the AJ v Dubois fight in September, so that fight would not have been for a world title, albeit the winner would have gone on to become the IBF champion once that titel was stripped from Usyk.

Dubois proves time and time again that he wants the toughest possible route to the top. It's a strategy that is working for him because he gets better after every loss. Padded 0's are the worst way to advance your career you learn so little so slowly.

At the moment AJ is definitely far more skilled and seasoned as a boxer, his IQ and tool box is bigger also, and i dont want to take credit away from dubious because this is heavy weight boxing and he is definitely well deserved of his position at the top.
