This actor is one of my favorites of all time. Really liked him as Zorba. He really captured the feel of that atmosphere in that part and played it better than any Greek would have. Yiasou Mr. Quinn. I watched that movie about 4 times and every time it’s like a new experience. I think they should have made a sequel to that film when all the original cast were still with us, possibly called it the return of Zorba. Even read the book a couple of times and got emotional about it. Sorry that’s just me.

I met him in 1985 through a mutual acquaintance. I only recently learned that Quinn was Mexican- born as Manuel Oaxaca in Chihuahua. His dad rode with Pancho Villa in the Mexican Revolution. Before becoming an actor Quinn studied under Frank Lloyd Wright to be an architect. But he gave it up because acting paid better.

Wrong. Manuel Antonio Rodolfo Quinn Oaxaca was his name, grandson of an Irish immigrant in Mexico. 'Anthony Quinn was born Antonio Rodolfo Quinn Oaxaca (some sources indicate Manuel Antonio Rodolfo Quinn Oaxaca) on April 21, 1915, in Chihuahua, Mexico, to Manuela (Oaxaca) and Francisco Quinn, who became an assistant cameraman at a Los Angeles (CA) film studio. "But when Quinn the Eskimo gets here, everybody's gonna run to him/ Come along without, come along within/ You've not seen nothing like the Mighty Quinn...."-----from the hit song by Manfred Mann, The Mighty Quinn. This was a tribute to Quinn in the movie "The Savage Innocents".

Love Barabbas. He is also amazing in HBOs "Gotti" from the 90s, the best Gotti movie and one of the best gangster movies.
