Yeah, much like I wouldn't have wanted the 90s eras of Metallica and Megadeth NOT to happen, because they put out some incredible music (including some of their very best songs) then, I wouldn't have wanted John Bush to NOT have happened. Sound of White Noise and We've Come For You All alone were worth that. Not to mention the gems on Stomp and Volume 8. Plus it doesn't hurt that I (sadly) didn't actually get into Anthrax until around 2000. So John was "my guy" at the time, and even though I love a LOT of the earlier Joey era stuff, I'll always feel nostalgia for John.

''Persistence of Time'' is in my opinion, the greatest Anthrax album of them all, and they never put out a dud. There's an anger on this record, that first shows up on ''Spreading The Disease'' in songs like ''A.I.R.'', but on Persistence, it's there throughout. Apparently, a lot of us were listening to ''In My World'' before we headed out for school. I know I did, and it really helped me get through a lot of the bullshit that was thrown at me during that time of my life. I also have a place in my heart for ''Intro To Reality/ Belly Of The Beast''. For ages, I wondered what the verbal exchange was from at the beginning of the song. ''We did as we were told.'' and ''They just heard you offer the apology for all the monsters of our times.'' etc. I knew it had to be from a movie or tv show, but after years of wondering, I finally found the answer when I heard those lines uttered in an episode of ''The Twilight Zone'' called ''Deaths-Head Revisited''. A fitting kinship in darkness between TZ and Anthrax.

My favorite Anthrax album. When people talk 1990, it’s always Rust in Peace, Painkiller and Seasons in the Abyss - all brilliant albums, yet Persistence of Time is rarely mentioned among them. It should be, because that album is a damn masterpiece. “Time,” “In My World,” “One Man Stands,” “Belly of the Beast,” “Keep It In the Famiy,” are you fucking kidding me? Absolute brilliance. Joey, Scott, Dan, Frankie, Charlie - take a bow.

Very honest from Scott Ian, "Nothing touches me, I'm a walking razor blade." Doesn't sound like a person you want to be around much, definitely not someone you want to be getting close to. Also, sounds like someone who doesn't want anyone getting close to them. That's rough, going from shit breaking your way, to 26, getting a divorce, and a lot of tension in the band, and you don't realize that you are likely the primary source.

The thing that separates Anthrax from the other members of The Big 4 is Anthrax has never plateaued creatively. They continue to bring it up a notch with every album. While Among The Living is an epic album it is just one of many. I’ve never heard an Anthrax fan complaining that they were only great on their first 5 albums like other bands. They aren’t trying to recapture their former glory. A perfect example of this is Joey. While I always thought he was a good vocalist he always seemed secondary to the music. He was never the main reason you listened to an Anthrax song. Then For All Kings finally gave him the spotlight and the room to unleash. He rightfully took his place alongside Bruce Dickinson, Ozzy Osbourne, and Ronny James Dio as a legendary singer! And this is why Anthrax is awesome

On the one hand, it's none of my business what goes on between people in bands - even if it's disappointing as a fan when things get disrupted. On the other hand, as a fan for 30+ years, it's really welcome and almost cathartic to hear Scott offer up his thoughts on things between him and Joey during that time. We're all human and apart from kick-ass riffs and crushing beats, reflecting on life and who we are is a big part of what good music is all about. So cheers to all the guys in Anthrax for staying true, figuring it out, and continuing to kick ass in 2021 and beyond.

I never did fully understand why Joey was booted after Persistence. I was utterly blown away by this record and thought his vocals never sounded better or stronger. Euphoria and Persistence are my faves. I always wondered how much better the vocals would have been if Joey got to sing his OWN thoughts and feelings instead of being forced into a position where he had to interpret someone ELSES. Its like Joey leaning over scotts rhythm guitar as hes recording and stopping him mid take: "more palm muting there scott' 'that riff, didnt have enough feeling scott' 'try a homogenized seventh on that descending run, scott' The fact that you had a vocalist WILLING to do that.... theres not enough credit in the WORLD for Joeys patience. Joey is HALF the reason i love Anthrax.

When I was in High school I was called a poser or a fanboy because I like Persistence so much. The other metal heads I hung out with were all "Among the Living or nothing." Hearing Scott Say he loves this album just justified the last 30 years of my life!

This was the first Anthrax album I got and it was because of the Got The Time video on MTV. Still my favorite album today.

Persistence was my introduction to Anthrax. Wasn't sure what to make of it at first, but it kept growing on me, and today it's still one of my favorite thrash albums. I really dug that dark, introspective direction thrash seemed to be going in at the time. Persistence, Justice, Twisted into Form, Arise, Victims of Deception.. I was curious to see what that would develop into, but then everything changed, so I got into death metal.

Disappointed by no mention of "Blood" Joey is amazing on the first three tracks. So many lyrics... Plus "Time", "Blood", and "Keep It in the Family" follow each other so well.
