I felt the same way. I cried through all of it. And the memories flooded back and reality set it... we are all aging. The Genesis gents (except Nic obviously) are 10 yrs ahead of me in age. It was a bittersweet cry. Happy that I was able to see my favorite band, thrilled at the sound, lights and video effects. So very touched by Nic joining the tour and watching Phil's pride for his son. At the same time, sad because I think the world of Chester and his immense talent. I so wished he had accompanied the tour for at least a couple of magnificent duets with Nic. Sad that my idol & celebrity boyfriend 🤭, was not his usual self. He was crippled by the very job that brought all of us (including Phil) so much pleasure. I was sad over the fact that this would be the last time I'd see this great holy trinity of musicians perform live =as much as I love their recordings, Genesis Live was ALWAYS even BETTER. I was sad over the fact that there wouldn't be anymore brilliant new releases. Lastly cried with gratitude that they came out to bid us all a final goodbye. They could've just said F-it when Covid threw a wrench into the planned tour schedule. They didn't have to do this. The long goodbye it was. And watching the last N American tour stop in Boston, I could see how tired & frail Phil was. This was great to watch. I too was one of those crying fans. Sorry for the long comment but this clip took me right back to December 15, 2021. I'm crying again 😭 #getphilvotedin

I know how he felt, Phil Collins always had such energy on stage! It is impossible for me to see him in concert confined to a chair!, he’s such an icon in my life back in the 80’s I was into Heavy Metal then one day I was in my boss/ friends 66 Corvette Stingray and he put on one of Phil’s cassettes into his stereo and I was hooked on all things Phil/Genesis since, I curse the doctor who botched Phil’s surgery !!, and though I love and admire this man I cannot go see him now in this state, because I would breakdown!

Nic did a fine job. I went to the Leeds (Uk) concert and i was crying most of the night. They were brilliant as usual. It was so nice to see boys again and so sad that it will be the last time.

Really cool to hear Charlie give props to Nik Collins for doing the Genesis songs. I was at Hollywood Bowl in 2007 (which at that time would have been the final Genesis show, it was his final show on drums). When they did Carpet Crawlers, definitely know what you guys mean about it being emotional. Phil is such a visually expressive guy as a frontman, that he can pull it off sitting on the chair. I think Phil threw some Genesis songs into his "big band" tour but that was the only time. Maybe you can have Hugh Padgham on - discussing his work with just The Police and Genesis alone would fill up the show.

Hopefully will see Genesis at the 02 in London in March at the fourth time of asking (bloody Covid) i have seen them live a few times before starting in 1992. The music of Genesis and the band members solo stuff is like the best gift I have ever been given. if I get to see them in March, I want to go to just say goodbye and thank them for the fantastic music. I honestly would not mind if Phil Collins just came out and sat there, he is a genius. I don’t think it possible to love people you have never met, but it feels like something very close that I have for this band. I will shed a tear or two. Great interview, I love it when I hear great musicians respecting other musicians and bands.

Every time i hear “in the air tonight” i always think about the first Miami Vice episode. That song was SO perfect for the mood in that scene at the end.

A Trick Of The Tail 👍🏻👍🏻 their best album by far . The whole thing is like a fairytale story book , stunning arrangements . Ripples is the best track on the album , it’s gorgeous ♥️

Charlie is exactly right. I saw the first night in Chicago, and it was very emotional for all the reasons stated. Tremendous show and got to see them perform Misunderstanding, which they immediately dropped from the set list.

Love genesis and phil collins and not a Gabriel fan. I think this last concert everybody was emotional and sad because the shape phil was in and never think our heros get old or sick and I just think it was shock to a lot of people.

Yeah Carpet Crawlers is a tear jerker. Saw them late 70's/early 80's MSG, Philly, Long Island, Forest Hills tennis stadium Queens and a very special gig at the Savoy NYC 11/81' that I slept outside 24 hrs to be first row standing in front of Mike Rutherford. I think Misunderstanding from Three Sides Live is from that show. The Savoy had a capacity of only 1,500? Special show it was. It would been nice to see if they continue playing live, Nic Collins play with his half older brother Simon Collins who is a damn good drummer also. Especially during Los Endos. Here is Simon playing with his father Phil. Enjoy. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ndKFmcZ-ssilYoU.html

It was the perceived opinion to poke fun at Phil Collins in the past because he was "officially" not cool. You may not like his music, or him as a person (or your perceived view of him). He could play the drums. I heard him once say "Forget all about this other bullshit. We are entertainers. If the people are entertained, we have done our job properly". Phil Collins entertained. Gated reverb was a Peter thing anyway.

100% bullshit. No Gabriel, no lyrics. His input musically was nominal. Without Tony Banks there’s no Genesis.
