What happens when you drive into anti tank mine with off-road army truck? How bad is the damage to the truck? Could driver survive the blast? On this educational science experiment we test this out! Don't try this at home or anywhere else. We have safe test location and all necessary knowledge and permits to do this tests in a safe way!

"Don't use the windscreen wipers too much or the brakes won't work" 😅 So you can decide between crashing into something that you can see because you can't brake or crashing into something that you can't see because you didn't brake. Brilliant design. Combining my vast knowledge of cars (I have seen all the classic Top Gear episodes) and this, I conclude that if you did this with an old Toyota Hilux, it would still be driveable.

During the Vietnam War my uncle drove a 5 ton M62 wrecker, that was his job. When his column was going between the cities of Da Nang and Dong Ha the column found a large mine. His truck was the most expendable in the column so they had him back up to the mine until it detonated. He told me it picked the back of the truck up and blew the outboard rear axle off the truck, but since it was a 6 wheel drive, he was able to get it back to the motorpool. What angered him the most was he spent the weekend that he should have been on leave fixing the truck and getting it back in service. He loved that truck, named it "No Slack".

US anti-tank mines during the 80’s had steel plates and shaped charges, not just a bunch of high explosives packed into a disc shaped container. I doubt it one of ours would have done any more damage in this case, but they were designed to blow the tracks of of tracked vehicles and damage the running gear, and hopefully penetrate the under belly of the tank as well, causing injury to the occupants.
@signs80
@signs80 4 ай бұрын
You don't even need shaped charges to penetrate a lot of Russian vehicles, there's a lot of footage of T-72/T-90s and BMPs exploding into a fireball from regular or double stacked AT mines like this because the bottom of the hull on them is so thin and relatively close to the ground

Land mines you really want to be in a SA made APC, because they were designed from the outset to have the crew survive a mine blast, and in a lot of cases you could sort of drive it as well after, though you might be missing a wheel or two while doing so. Having a blast diverter at the bottom, and thus moving the energy away, is very important, though this makes the vehicles rather top heavy. Friend went over a bridge side in one, he survived, but a few of the others did not.

That is a nice truck. If you ever get another one, I would love to see what it would look like if you cut off the back of it so you end up with a 4 wheel vehicle instead of a 6 wheel vehicle and turn it into a really big pick up truck :)

That’s a tough truck! Well the reliability issue can be fix by fitting aftermarket/custom part I guess 😂😂😂

I love the Soviet engineering... Don't fill the tires too fast or you loose the brakes, don't use the windshield wipers too much or you loose the brakes, don't start driving too quickly because you won't have brakes! Proof once again that human life is not of great concern for them!

03:50 In my understanding, only the parking brake in western trucks is spring loaded and kept open with air pressure, the normal brakes are still pushed together with air pressure.
