Cuties was a mirror to society and questioned what islt is to be a woman. It showed the main girls pain at watching her mother suffer in silence and accept that her dad was marrying another woman. It followed her acting out and rebelling. She was trying to fit in and her overt sexuality was a cry for help but also what she saw. She saw that successful and desired women in media are half naked, very sexualised. What does it mean to be valued as a woman. It was a good film, i disagree with the direction and the zooming in on private parts but the film was honest. It also spoke about culture and religion too.

@@sexyblackcharlery i guess if you ignore the pedophilic themes. Whatever, maybe there is a different way to look at it, but there should have been a much more harsh and brutal portrayal of child sexualization. It just makes it seem good. Which is disgusting.

Antifa are closer to actual nazi fascism than anyone will want to admit. What they claim to be for is a joke because that’s not what their actions say. And to say they don’t coincide with dems isn’t true. Some dems have condemned them but they work hand in hand. They burned down buildings and the dems say... see trumps fault. And it’s well documented that the nazis analyzed how the Democrats created a “lower class” with the blacks. They used it as a model for how to segregate Jews in their society. Dems are the master manipulators.

Anarchy has different definitions whether you're asking people entrenched in establishment an people like Noam Chomsky who actually perform and spread anarchist ideology. Anarchy isn't chaos for the sake of it, it's a rejection of hierarchy being necessary for the function of human civilization, like how atheism is the rejection of theism to being necessary. Anarchy is just the opposite of hierarchy, and of course anyone who accepts hierarchy as necessary would feel like the rejection of that is chaos but it really isn't anymore the secularism is chaos. Democracy as an idea that the people being affected by the consequences of a decision should have a say in that decision, is an anarchist positive and hierarchist negative idea.
@napppstar0
@napppstar0 3 жыл бұрын
@Siyovaxsh En-sipad-zid-ana those are artificial hierarchies. What's considered attractive and what are strengths and what are weaknesses are always changing depending on external conditions. Structuring a society around contemporary hierarchies is how they become toxic and oppressive when things ultimately change and the society can't change with it without first upending the established status quo. A society with this in mind can implement nuanced and flexible policy that would allow the most people to use whatever gifts they're born with to potentially flourish with the society as opposed to against the society. If collectively we can supply individuals with all they need then individually we can give all we can to the collective.
@diddlingdoom3133
@diddlingdoom3133 3 жыл бұрын
@Siyovaxsh En-sipad-zid-ana But the hierarchies in itself, does not justify itself. Things like laws that only benefit large corporations because they paid politicians, which then screw over everyone else can't be made by the states representatives sole desire to, it would be voted on by its people. It would be democracy instead of a democratically elected republic.
@Hanzo615
@Hanzo615 3 жыл бұрын
That is a huge false equivalency. History has shown that some form of hierarchy must exist for a stable society to be formed , it is not just an excuse used by the corrupt elite . Democracy on it's own isn't a hierarchist negative idea because the democratic process itself creates a hierarchy .
@napppstar0
@napppstar0 3 жыл бұрын
@@Hanzo615 what exactly is the false equivalency then? I would argue that over time all societies destabilize as hierarchies that no longer work demand more and more of the societies resources to be enforced. The conditions change and if the society would rather uphold the dated narratives then change with the times there's a collapse of power structures regardless. If you see hierarchies as something that must exist then the collapsing of those hierarchies have also historically been a part of then process.
@Hanzo615

These are the kind of people who would have dismissed the White Rose when they tried to help others realize the encroaching fascist state before it was too late. It's difficult to say they are flat-out terrible people because they distance themselves with 'pure neutrality', while simultaneously remaining willfully ignorant of the situation. I mean, Dr. Grande even admitted it was a *movement* , not an organization, that began in Nazi Germany. So he knows he's talking about folk who literally resisted Hitler's regime and have been fighting against a repeat ever since. Then he goes on a rant about 'free speech'...obviously poor research done as to what that even means and why it has absolutely zero equivalence with people opposing hate speech. Because " rAdiCaL iDeA MeAn bAD !1! " and so forth. No honest intellectual pursuit necessary. Fascism is not a opinion like vanilla ice cream is better than strawberry. There is a set of beliefs to Fascism. Not all Fascists have to adhere to all these beliefs. For example, Italian Fascists did not believe in anti semitism to the same extent as their German counterparts. Two great books to learn more about Fascism are Zev Sternal's The birth of Fascist Ideology and Hannah Arendt's Origins of Totalitarianism. Greetings from Norway! I've been a subscriber for a couple of months now, watching almost all of your videos. I have a huge interest in psychology, especially when it comes to "studying" the mind of serial killers, murderers, cult leaders and pyramid schemes in general. It fascinates me how people can be brainwashed and manipulated into believing and worshipping the most bizarre things.. ..And when it comes to murderers, my fascination is based off the big question "WHY?". Why does some people with a traumatic childhood end up taking lives, while others with very similar backgrounds become good people who couldn't hurt a fly? I enjoy your dry humor as well, it makes these dark subjects a little easier to listen to. I think it's a good thing you're not super detailed about these heinous acts. The "why?" is a lot more interesting than the "how?". Although I really do enjoy your content, I gotta admit that I love falling asleep to your videos. It might not be the best subjects to listen to while falling asleep, but there's just something about your voice that relaxes me. Yup! I might just be another case for you to solve, right here :'D. Jokes aside though, please do one with Peter Madsen, the Danish "rocket science" guy who killed Kim Wall, the Swedish journalist.This madman escaped prison! He was able to hold a female psychologist hostage by using a "gun like" object, and then he proceeded to wear a fake bomb belt. This was all over the news yesterday. They did get him though. You should really do an analysis about this now that it's fresh again. I can't wait to hear your dry humor jokes on this dude!

I don't mind this as a thought experiment, but I think there are big flaws if taking it as a serious analysis. For one thing, I'm not sold on the idea that groups can be reified in this way for an analysis of "personality". But more significantly, we can see the way a therapist can bring their own ideological assumptions which bias that analysis. For example the part about "elites controlling the media" and association with conspiracy theory thinking assumes that this is an illegitimate view. In fact, there are many studies into the concentration of corporate media, and the networks of business interests which influence coverage. For example, would we expect the Washington Post - owned by the richest man in the world and founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos - to present unfavourable coverage of Amazon, its business associates (which includes the CIA, no less) or Bezos himself? Some of this work, such as Noam Chomsky's Manufacturing Consent is seminal in its field. The US government's own Church Committee also raised some associated issues. So we see here that one single ideological assumption can throw off the conclusions in a big way. Suddenly people with a legitimate view of media are considered to be displaying schizotypal features. You could apply the same reasoning to issues like whether responding to fascism with violence is a form of dysfunction, or merely situational (see WWII where this is uncontroversial, or revolutions against fascist governments). In other words, there are real limitations in psychopathologising the political. Aaaaaaanyhoo, like I say, no harm in applying loosely for the sake of discussion. Might I recommend Glenn Beck for an interesting entry? That time he sobbed on TV because "I love my country 😭" is worth a book in its own. It would also be interesting to discuss if he has schizotypal traits, or just schizotypal-for-money 😂

Dr Grande, have you considered doing a mental health/personality analysis on the popular KZfaq political/news figures such as Steven Crowder, Tim Pool, Kyle Kulinski, Philip DeFranco, Ben Shapiro, Cenk Uygur, Ana Kasparian, etc. It seems like some of these figures have developed a cult of personality, and I’m not so certain they aren’t just adding to the polarization in America. @@breastfeeder4856 If not in setting themselves up as guardians of what other people can say and not say then what is fascism? If using social ostracism as an arm twisting means to ends rather then reasoned argument then what is fascism? If not using violence and claiming to be "peace lovers" is not fascism then what is? Do define fascism for me.
@breastfeeder4856

@@coweatsman none of them claimed to be peace lovers and none of them are against freedom of speech. Antifa believes in free speech whole heartedly however they believe that freedom of speech does not protect you from consequences hence why antifa brings protection gear and weapons to their own protests. I don’t see the correlation between antifa and fascism. If anything I see fascism more in the American government for getting the national guard to attack protestors and frame them for instigating the violence and vandalism. Kentucky made protest illegal recently too. You should be worried about the ones in power.

@@coweatsman Palingenic ultranationalism: bringing about a rebirth of a nebulously-defined "nation." This involves purging this nation of groups that have polluted it since some time in the past when things were hunky-dory, enabling rebirth. Fascism is inherently anti-egalitarian: those outside the nation can expect no support from the nation. What you describe is standard practice of many groups throughout history, especially in the ruling class. Post-war domestic espionage programs of the centrist American government (like COINTELPRO and CIA attempts to influence public opinion, especially in Reader's Digest) fit all three sentences you wrote; nobody outside the Communist Party describe this as fascism. The Communist Party in the Soviet Union likewise engaged in all of this; nobody outside of American libertarians describe this as fascism. The Rand Collective did this for its members, as well as for groups it didn't like (Rand actively advocated for state-sponsored violence when she felt like it, like against the Palestinians and in Pinochet's Chile); nobody describes this as fascism. How would you describe fascism?
@Octavian2
@Octavian2 3 жыл бұрын
@@breastfeeder4856 I would say antifa would be closer to authoritarian than fascist. In that they use power to silence. I'm sure when it comes to the state, many would be okay using the power of the state in silencing those whom they deem to be harmful. Now many members may very well be anarchists, so that conclusion may not be totally accurate. However, it doesn't change the idea of the use of force to silence. Freedom of speech to these people is clearly not a very high value. If it was, they would understand the nuance of such a thing. For this reason, they are far from a lib left/right. Classical liberals, for example, would hold such a thing to a higher value, including all those closer to center, and would find force of any kind despicable. This is the difference.

Thank you very much for this video, dear doctor Grande. I am volunteering for over 3 years as a researcher and reporter for antisemitism and racism in my country (Slovakia). I do not like to mention to whom, if it is OK. This video has helped me a lot to see inside Antifa, as I haven´t really understand the topic. I am learning every day. Dear doctor, I want to thank you, how helpful you are to me (about my past with a narcissist partner and in my researches). Well I think the issue is that the younger generation, I guess you could say gen z, is not complacent in regards to politics and injustice. Older generations like myself of course have a harder time understanding radicalism. Imagine spending your formative years under a Trump presidency? Something to think about.

“Moderate” is not the same as ‘factual’ or “just”. What Americans view as “moderate” is much different than what the rest of the developed world considers to be moderate, and what Americans view as “moderate” today is much different than what they considered to be moderate 100 years ago. American “Moderates” in the 1800s supported slavery. Moderation is a relative term and therefor a pretty useless marker of what is “true” and “right”.
