This Seth Thomas Bonneville alarm clock wasn’t working and the box was the perfect project piece. To be honest, it sat in my basement for years, until I had just the right idea in mind. I kept waffling on what I wanted it to be… and finally, it dawned on me! My daughter didn’t have a piggy bank and I was keeping her money she would receive in a zipper sandwich bag. I decided this clock box had a new purpose! How cool that we can take things that don’t really have a purpose anymore, and turn them into something useful and beautiful! In this day and age, most things are disposable, easily replaced and designed to wear out, it seems sad that the old and tired things of the past get passed over for fancy new technologies. Let’s bring back the beautiful things. The once shiny can be made shiny again. And I know it takes time. Oh it would be so much quicker and easier to go to the store and get a money bank for a child. And you know what they say, “time is money.” But when we preserve beauty in the things around us, isn’t that time of value? Of more value than money saved even. And how poetic, that this little box used to sit in someone’s home to keep time, and now it sits in my home to keep money. #diy #diyfurnituremakeover
