I don’t understand why you do electrolysis when you grind the parts anyway.

It seemed like he didn't even give enough time for the whole electrolysis process to finish. It was like he was just impatient and decided to finish it up with the grinding wheel.

I didn't see anything AMAZING about this. He really didn't do anything. He didn't even clean it well. The I bolt was still rusty and the body was all scratched up.

Instead of using the plumbers wrench stick a screwdriver through the eyelet will give. Much more leverage and not leave the teeth impressions

You are certainly an outside-the-box thinker, but not necessarily in a good way. Sometimes things are done a certain way for a reason. For instance, the claw end of a claw hammer is not typically used to strike things, especially delicate things, due to the risk of seriously damaging the workpiece. Perhaps you should consider using a wire brush to remove scale next time.

What was the powder and liquid you put in at the end? I'm trying to figure out why its called a stone gas lamp. I figured 'Stone' was the name of a brand.
@terencenaylor5441
@terencenaylor5441 3 жыл бұрын
I believe it to be Calcium Carbide powder, and the liquid to be Water. When mixed, Acetylene gas is produced, which is highly flammable.

Painful to watch. Do you not have a wire brush? I think the white powder must be Calcium Carbonate. It reacts with water to produce acetylene gas, which is flammable and burns with a very smoky flame. Usually the bottom chamber holds the powder and water drips down from the top chamber.

Here is a tip. The Lamp gets to much gas. The gas outlet needs to be smaller, so that it doesn’t produce as much smoke and shines with more continuity. But otherwise a great restoration.

Came here to see if anyone else was cringing when they saw the angle grinder come out. Why? Electrolysis would have worked fine. You didn’t even buff the scratches, yes scratches NOT swirl marks, at the end. At least use some fine sand paper to get the big ones out… yikes. Could’ve even left it with a brushed finish and it would’ve looked better. Honestly, this was kind of painful to watch.
