Antique Tractors Plowing the Earth.
#tractors #plow #tractorvideo #farm
Video from a family farm near Celina Ohio as they hosted a plow day where several local farmers brought some antique tractors and plows and plowed up a harvested wheat field. In this video is a good mix of 20 plus older tractors plowing the field. The family that hosted the event has a very nice lineup of John Deere 10 series tractors that all lined up together for this video.
In the video I said tractor specs.com but meant to say www.tractordata.com. for finding tractor information.

Some were digging deep and some were just scratching the surface, but All were neat to see. Thanks Mike. I remember when everyone owned a moldboard plow. Those were the days!

Mike--Thanks for producing this video. I know the moldboard is largely dead, at least for US corn/soybeans/wheat, but 60 years ago, it was one of my favorite chores.

If a job's worth doing, it's best doing it right, easing/lifting the plough when tractor spins for an instance, some plough's are leaning away from work.

The reason some tractors struggled, was they were plowing opposite direction of the way this field is normally tilled, this helps breakup the hardpan. At least that's my opinion.

Dad bought one of the first 4010 Diesels ever built -- tricycle front end in April 1961 from McCullough Equipment, Kenton, Ohio. He also bought a 3-point hitch 5-14 John Deere Plow. Two major issues with that plow: Corn Stalks would not go through it and you could not handle the tractor with the plow out of the ground - even with 200 or more pounds on the front end. He eventually traded that plow for an International 4-16 with the wheel on the back that you can see on the video pulled by an International Tractor. You can see the tons of clearance in the video. Problems solved.

Todays tractors with all of the electronics and gadgets in the end do the exact same thing that these mechanical tractors do. They just do it at a much lower cost and down time. You can spend your time learning how to operate and repair fancy electronics. Or you can be in the field working.
