This is the channels first rescued tractor video. It's a 1959 Case 300B (technically a 311B) with a front end bucket. It had an over heating problem 10 years ago when it was parked. Turns out it was a stuck thermostat. It has the simple 4 cyl gas engine in it, but seems to have great compression. Oh and it has a punctured tire, stuck clutch, and frozen hand throttle. Goodie! Lets see if it will start after 10 years of being parked!

I've owned a couple of 311B Case farm tractors and older V A C case's also . What I like about the 1959 and newer is they all have live power and are as modern as present day tractors . My Dad bought a new 1960 530 Case and it was like yours , it had triple range , giving it 12 forward gears and 3 reverses . Great ground travel for any job . My wife's older brother had a 300 Case tractor with triple range and was clocked at 38 M P H on the highway . When your 311B Case was new it steered like it had power steering , Case tractors from 1959 onward had a larger than usual steering wheel and a gear ratio that gave you the ability to use a spinner on the steering wheel which you could drive anywhere with one hand . This also prevented them from breaking your arm if you hit something solid with the front wheels . It would not spin the steering wheel . Dad's 530 Case could not be choked out in 2nd gear low range or third gear low range . Dad's 530 came with over sized tires on the back , which were 14.9 x 28 and also dad bought oversized plows and disk . 3---14 inch bottom plows and 7 ft disk . The horse power and hydraulics were splendid . The case 4 cyl. motor had an abundance of power and when dad picked up the 7 ft disk , the front end would not stay on the ground and had to be guided with the brakes . The Case tractors in those years had to be one of the best farm tractors in the world . -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Ernest E. Johnson

@@SwedeMachine New subscriber here. I am a chemical engineer however I have grown to dislike it. I have started to build a decent metal shop with a lathe, a 72 inch metal Brake, and an assortment of engine drive and plug in welders. I am restoring a Ford Ranger XLT with a 6cyl. and 4wd. I already mounted a flat bed, crane, Miller Roughneck 2e welder, drillpress and vise to the back. I have decided to do mobile welding and restore vintage Porsches. I hope my videos are half as good as yours my friend. Where are you located? Pa?,South Carolina? P.S. Thank you for saying how long its been between repairs...

It did have calcium as a ballast in the tire. My tire shop only put 1/3 calcium back in as its semi retired, and won't need much weight on the rear drives. At some point I might do a follow up with this tractor.😊

Your practical approach and positive attitude to getting that classic going again is welcome inspiration for me. If it is Handy they should bring some sort of trimmer. Sometimes they have to walk quite a distance through heavy brush to get to the tractor and they already carried a whole bunch of tools. But then again, for the same reason, they should cut a road to get to the tractor. 😃

Sadly penetrating oil does damage rubber. I use gas because it evaporates fast and is slicker . Also it damages rubber but it also fuses the rubber to metal making a extreme seal . If you have problems braking tire beads lay them flat pour a little gas around the bead wait a few minutes and the bead will brake easy

Our family bought 2 1/2 acers in 1973. After paying a neighbor a couple of times to plow. My Dad on his delivery route found a 1936 case tractor. large drag disc, scrapper, and spring tooth. It broke down and he gave up on it. He wanted to work around the yard. He bought a 8hp 4 speed Montgomery Ward rotor tiller. While assembled it, I went to play with the tractor. I was in the 7th grade and took electric lab. I had rebuilt the edger. I rebuilt the carburetor, cleaned the plugs, cleaned the magnetos, cleaned the fuel filter, and changed oil. The next trouble was testing it. It had crank to start it. :I was not aloud to start it. I beg my Dad to try it, but he did not want too. .Tractor way out in the back. I just begged him more and this time he said yes. It started in three cranks and ran well. He got on the tractor and started plowing. Get more done plowing, than with a tiller. He plowed the whole 1/2 acre front lawn under. This surprised my my Mom when she got home. She was like wow. It was so satisfying I got it to run. Should mention it had no muffler and was loud. My Mom would say there is fire out the side.
