Interprétation magistrale par le pianiste le plus accompli de la compétition. Tout est narration et subtilité. L'esprit de Chopin est là. Merci Antoine pour ce moment innoubliable !

I've been, and continue to be struck each time, by how incredibly subtle the artistic responsiveness of the other [early] instruments in this extraordinary orchestra are to this performance; how inspired & receptive they are to the smallest detail of his interpretation ~ when you consider how many times they accompanied this Concerto ... the difference is really remarkable.

he should win the first prize. Surely. He is by far far superior to the others candidates. reminded me again of the beauty and grandeur of this concert.

Une très grande joie d'entendre Antoine. Un magnifique chemin depuis ces débuts pianistiques du côté d'une petite ville en Picardie, Nesle (80) . Une interprétation sublime de la musique de Chopin. Que de grâce et de subtilités sonores. BRAVISSIMO...!

How he didn't even get 3rd price I don't understand. But then again music is very subjective... In my opinion I think Antoine should have won. I will definitely keep following him and see how he further develop his piano playing. Great talent. great understanding for Chopin! Keep rocking! Btw he is french, not from Poland as the title indicates. At least give that to him.

Antoine de Grolée is the best so far : his music and technic are rares, amazing. A Great artist ! He should win but in that competition there's too much corruption and politic.

WICKED politics, I'm afraid, deprives the world of Truth and Justice. And Chopin must be weeping that his great name and music us associated with such unfairness and dishonesty.

Antoine de Grolée plays this concerto with perfection. Every passage is thought and of an absolute fineness. His interpretation is very just, in the respect and spirit of Chopin, and Antoine enriched this concerto by its creativity. In every stage of the competition, he was amazing of virtuosity and musicality. His maturity of game places him well over the other candidates

Undoubtedly a magnificent performance. What an extraordinary way to reincarnate Chopin's style through such feeling and emotion. The piece itself reminded me of his Nocturne N. 20 in C# minor; there were even parts that sounded almost exactly the same in both compositions. Does anyone know which piece was written first? It was inevitable to unconsciously repeat some patterns on different pieces, but these ones are very close, I think.

Shame on the competition and jurors! This wonderful guy, for me, should have won - but not to be one of the top 3 is a travesty! Also, a 3rd price, when you have a shared 2nd is illogical. His phrasing, rubato, tone and depth of understanding stand out over the others - who were remarkable performers in their own right. Anyway, he has a great future ahead of him, I'm sure. Be proud Antoine; you'll go far!

He was the best of all the competition and the jury was not neutral and impartial, it did not choose according to criteria of musicality or game but according to of other one criteria. Can be to please the Polish hosts who deserve very certainly a big support but not to the detriment of the quality of the judgment.

The jury might just choose who plays like them, bright and dynamical interpretations got the edge to trick the jury that they stand out in a live performance. But these are period pianos, I will prefer introvert and elegance playing all day. Contrary to the final results, Dmitry and Antoine should be top 2 for their abilities to keep it a real period performance

Yes but it is enough to see that all the prizes are awarded to the Poles to understand that the problem is other. This competition seems in fact a way to promote on the international stage the young Polish pianists !

Antoine de Grolée subjugated me during all the competition. He is of an exceptional virtuosity. An immense pianist endowed with rare qualities as a pallet of nuances in the infinity and a fabulous technique. He is inhabited when he plays and pulled me tears. This version of the concerto is the most beautiful and the most sensitive on KZfaq. Antoine must to be fantastic on modern piano! My opinion: Ritter massacred this wonderful concerto and made many faults. He has important technical gaps, does not respect the tempo and is not inhabited. Far too much formated. His first prize is usurped and he knows it like Ksiazek who should never passed in final. I did not recognize the concerto n°1 which I know by heart ! But he is the pupil of a very influential professor !!! Kawaguchi is pedantic and mediocre. Unbearable ! But the sponsor is Lexus !!! Ablogin has qualities and should improve and to take the maturity which is still lacking to him. Good luck to him for future. Swigut progressed in the course of the tests but she should never have reached in finale. Vissovan and Pacholec was much better than her. For me, prizes order should have been the following one : Antoine, Ablogin, Swigut, Ritter, Kawaguchi, Ksiazek. It is scandalous not to invite to play all the finalists at gala evening. Which contempt to Antoine de Grolée et Dmitry Ablogin !!! And it’s disgusting to know that the result of this competition is forged and book for Polish. Shame to the jury and Chopin Institute. This competition is worth nothing because everything suited beforehand. Antoine de Grolée is the BEST for the public. BRAVISSIMO !

I don't think so. Ksiasek was the best of the finalists (if we consider his piano level and his maturity). About de Grolée, he wasn't the best pianist but he has proposed interesting and personnalised interpretation of this concerto: no "sirup", but a narrative conception, full of dramatic contrasts; apparently, the judges prefer the very young pianists who play nicely, without surprise. They probably like sirup. ....

I think de Grolee is really excellent, and I hugely enjoyed his playing especially in the other stages of this competition. However, to say that Ritter is technically worse than him seems to me just untrue. Compare for example the Ritter and de Grolee renditions of the difficult passage at 7.30 in the 1st movement of this concerto. Ritter's is spot-on, while de Grolee is not quite there.

I totally agree.I am certainly lacking objectivity as he is my student since he is 9 and I coached him for it. I Was really furious to see what this competition became after Harasiewicz,Pollini,Argerich,Zimmermann,Blechacz. Corruption took place of art.It heurts me because Warsaw is my City before I left for France.😢
