Hello Bokkes, as a french fan I can only admire your determination during this game. Congratulations your victory is deserved and not stolen! The level between the two teams was very balanced, it was an awesome game of rugby. Probably the best ive seen. I think there are a lot of questionnable decisions made by the referee but I want to stay worthy in the defeat. May the better team win the world cup, enjoy the rest of the competition in our beloved country and let's all appreciate a little bit more these amazing final phases!

As a French I have to admire the strengh of the South African side, you were absolute beast! But I am just disgusted that at key moment the referring was bad. When Etzebeth prevented us from a second try at the beginning with a forward move... How on earth with the TMO we let that pass in a World Cup ? We are talking about a fault preventing France from putting 14-0 at the very beginning of a game against South Africa. Thats insane. It's just hard to accept but that's it we need to move on. Exactly! For once the Boks got the rub of the green. Funny enough, this continued through the semis and the final. I remember the last moments of the final thinking surely the ABs cannot do this to us again, referring to so many test matches when the Boks were leading with 2 minutes to go and ended up losing. Yea like the clear offside play by the French on the Boks try line, with no penalty awarded to the Boks, and the French players collapsed the scrum 2 or 3 times with no penalty awarded to the Boks...even the commentators were baffled by this. So let's be real here. The ref was consistent in his poor decision making. The Boks got their fare share of bad calls as well. France played a great game. It's funny how people say there were decisions against the boks but can't name one. I'll give you one: a few scrums collapsed 'looked like' they did so from the French. However that is not a 'clear' decision as scrums are always very hard to get right, unlike 'hands on the ground in a ruck' which should have given Les Bleus a penalty instead of conceding one. As for sportsmanship of the crowd, well, they are allowed their opinion on refs decisions too and which home crowd does not support their team. Is De Klerk deliberately passing on a French player to try to get a penalty good sportsmanship? Is Kolbe starting his run before Ramos started his kick good sportsmanship? Unfortunately, the French have had their share of terrible referring, 1995 against the Boks probably being the worst ever and anyone with an ounce of honesty knows the victory that day was stolen from them.

List them then please. There is video evidence that Kolbe started his run too early as well as evidence that the last penalty for SA giving them a 4-point lead should have been a French penalty with nobody being able to argue honestly against those facts. Anything else being subject to the ref's interpretation, I'm not interested about. What a difference between this side and Ireland. Ireland never complained and never made excuses for their loss but here we have French blaming the ref. There were incidents that could also have gone the Springboks way. At the end of the day South Africa scored more tries and their defence won them the game. I feel for the French but it is what it is. They are a good side. Don't diminish your talents by blaming the ref. I appreciate that they recanted on their feelings about the ref halfway through the interview and they congratulated the Springboks.

Scoring more tries doesn't mean you necessarily win. Yes we can argue about calls not being made on both sides, but it is a fact that some called against France were wrong and cost them points: - the last penalty should have been reversed since the SA player had his hands on the ground. There is no denying that or talking about ref's appreciation. This is a clear rule and a clear foul. - the conversion blocked happened because Kolbe started his run before Ramos started his run. There is also no denying that even Kolbe said he was glad they didn't use TMO (why, do you think?). These are facts. Other controversial decisions include the potential deliberate knock-on that would have changed the game. This one is unclear because most image angles don't show exactly whether the ball went forward or backward. But it would not have been scandalous to give the French a penalty try and SA a yellow card on this.

I am still seething over what seem to be ref inconsistencies between one match and the next. Aaron Smith yellow card for interference ( vs Wales) but Owen Farrell (vs Fiji) was more obvious and nothing happened. Shocking. Fiji was not awarded a penalty, Wales was. Mbonambi and du Toit off for head checks but didn’t see any follow up on how those happened. Etzebeth yellow carded. Sportsmanlike he apologised the French prop as he left the field. All teams are affected by inconsistent judgements made by refs. Great match - brutally fast and hard. Both teams had moments of brilliance and on the day, under these circumstances, the Boks held out as tougher and more canny, able to neutralise the overwhelming noise of the crowd supporting their home team. Not easy. But not the French team’s problem.

Truly one of the RWC’s greatest game ever, two heroic teams - pity about Mr O’Keefe gifting the 3 point for the illegal jackal - it decided the result. Otherwise a 2 point win for the French. And before anyone claims sour grapes, I am not French and actually started off rooting for the non-home team. The slap down by their second rower was a lot more blatant than Smith’s for NZ and that garnered them a yellow. Another puzzling one…..

I watched the 4 quarter finals, and during the very pleasant game between 2 outstanding teams : France and South Africa , it became clear to me that similar actions arbitrated by two different teams of referees were not consistently leading to the same decisions (e.g. voluntary knock-ons, rucks). That makes the game unreadable for non-specialists like me, and somehow unfair, not that much between the opponents of one match, but between all the teams involved in the quarter finals. That should no be and it's probably an issue to solve by World Rugby in the coming years (as well as ending up with 2 of the 4 best teams of the tournament being eliminated in quarters, based on their rankings years ago - non sense). I also want to say that I always feel bad reading comments judging people like many youtubers do here (the usual mediocre people sitting in their armchair judging exceptional people actions and results). I liked the France >NZ>Ireland>South Africa > France. Remembered me the game where mouse
