I came to Thailand for employment (16 years). I am now retired in a town in rural Thailand. (4 years) As an American I have become less materialistic, learned to be more patient, and less judgmental. Being around a vibe of “politeness” and “sabai sabai” is definitely better for my mental health than the rat race and “tribalism” back in the USA. I like your videos btw

I lived in Bangkok for 4 years, 3 of them working and the other year just enjoying life. Your video makes me nostalgic for the life I had there. It's been 11 years since I left, but I will always have fond memories of the people, the food, the live music, and of just how much I loved my life there. I lived in SUkhumvit for a18 months, and the rest of the time in Sathorn, Soi Suan Plu. Both fabulous experiences. I found it so easy to make friends with locals, and with the expats I worked with. I was on a fairly tight budget but managed to do everything I wanted to do, and to explore many parts of Thailand and neighbouring countries. Loved the cheap markets that you find everywhere, any day of the week. Truly wonderful and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity. I've been back a few times but it was never the same as living there. Things changed, friends moved on, etc. Good on you for making the move! I hope you stay on for a while longer :)

Finding your community seems to be amongst the most important things to do when moving overseas. And learning the language, even if only the basics, not only demonstrates a respect for the country but a willingness to become part of the culture. I have about a million questions, but since this is the first time i’ve encountered your videos…I will watch those first. Love the music and the vibe!❤

@@AntoinetteYvonne Antoinette, I'm so glad to hear your response but it's obvious that you put a lot of thought and work into your vids. The multiple angles, even taking shots from the floor, placing the camera inside the condo and then opening the door from outside. There's a lot of thought there. Don't think that this goes unnoticeable. Just saw someone mentioning the music you put in the background is also thoughtful. Good work Antoinette!

So glad you found a community and friends. That's key to settling in... Sister, the chips, and fried foods-- I know they are so good, but they stress our bodies, esp the liver and affect our bodies ability to detox, instead we detox through our skin. To balance if one finds it hard to cut down- add more fresh greens into the diet...it will help balance out.

There are 2 big groups of Thai people overseas my friend. The small group is the rich Thai who want to study english language from the real local. The big group is the poor people and some middle-class people who couldn't find any good jobs here in Thailand and hope to find jobs in another countries and many if them Thai they could earn a lot more money there in the states while they couldn't earn that much here in Bangkok because there are a lot of requirements for any goods job here such as the degree while most of them do not have and never have but they still could working in the states while have no degrees and could earn better money compare to the jobs they could do here in Bangkok.

Yes...your skin is looking stunning to match everything else! (Don't take that the wrong way love)...it's been very interesting watching you live there. Honestly, I dream of 'escaping' the USA, especially the way it is here now, we just aren't what we used to be (the media has divided us deep) and I do fear that it's only going to get worse, both financially and socially. My channel is just starting (2yrs) and I'm trying to do van life...been trying...finances keep holding me up and cars either breaking down or vans needing fixed. I'm about to get my van fixed so I will be taking some weekend trips until I grow more, thanks for being an inspiration. ☺

You said, "Keep Living Life Beyond the Border" LOVED THAT!!!!!!!! I remember being in Selangor, Malaysia last year and LOVED that feeling of NOT being watched all the time, like here in the USA. I felt lonely at times because I didn't know anybody there and Some aspects of life were difficult because I didn't know the place very well, but with more time there; things would've gotten better. I felt FREE there, like I could Go anywhere without being Watched & Controlled. On the Contrary here in the USA, there is always Somebody Watching You; your neighbors don't Talk to You, but they Are watching your every move. Americans are too CONTROLLING and the doctors here are very Arrogant.

good video, good to see a role model doing things so a standard could be set for the future, note.. every time you put that make-up on you take 3 days off the age of your skin (😐), clog your pores, etc.. respectfully you don't need it.. ever.. embrace naturally. on top of budgeting get a plan for embracing your journey to naturality, and know that your true beauty is unexpectedly something that doesn't need to get covered up .. bless

I arrived in Thailand 6 months ago, I current live in Bangkok and am having a different time adapting to the sabai sabai mentality of thinking! I retired from working at 38 yrs old. Which is a blessing and a curse! I fought so hard to accomplish things and now I don't know how to shift OUT of a "BE ON TIME" mentality! I still have a problem slowing down when I walk thru the streets of Bangkok! And even when I am consciously not trying to show impatience, either my body language or my direct candor is so intimidating here, until I don't feel comfortable going outside alot. Why? Because I get irritated seeing Thais body language says: I am scared of or uncomfortable around you! As a minority and a lawyer in America, I am shown so much respect amongst my peers, but here some, only see me as a STEROTYPE or as a MONETARY OPTION! Am I in the right head space mentality to be in, in a place that everyone is calling paradise compared to........? I did go to school to learn to speak Thai but the local still can't understand what I say or they are afraid to reply back to me.

Do you wear the Head gear for noise reduction? Just courious. If so, you may want to try some of the in the ear, noise cancelling wireless buds/plugs available, they work very well and are not hot! Take up much less room in the luggage. Costs range from US $15 to $250.00. I have tried a few and found that some of the $20-50 ones work quite well. Good Job on leaving the U.S. Stress Race! I think they think we have to participate, but we can just as easily leave, can we not? Have fun and enjoy the feeling!
