Bruckner's simphonies are enormous. This quintet shows us his intimacy, his quiet intimacy.

L'esprit de Bruckner pense la musique depuis l'orgue. Et son originalité c'est d'en donner la magie dans les autres environnements, orchestral, choral ou de musique de chambre. Il ne faut pas s'attendre à des utilisations originales de timbre comme déjà chez Beethoven, mais, en revanche,la manière de concevoir le temps, ou encore mieux de durée, constitue la marque d'un génie unique qui a ouvert bien des portes pour la musique contemporaine.

Can’t help but notice the dotted rhythms at rehearsal B (1:15). Seems like the original recapitulation from the 1887 version of his 8th Symphony took some inspiration from this.

It is a beautiful music, and yes it sounds in some passages like early Schönberg. I didn't know the Piece. Thanks a lot, and thanks to combine the music with the score, one understands the piece better so. One should admit many contrapunctual passages.

wouldn't say so, it's very chamber music - filigreed woven: it's just Bruckner and his very unique way of musical thinnking. How do you expect him to write a quintet?

It is not in the description. Love this record, coupled with the Schmidt Quintet. This is the rendition I learned this wonderful piece with.
