Here's a match between the incredibly popular Antonino Argentina Tony Rocca in action against Brother Frank Jares. The match is followed by an interview with Argentina Rocca. Rocca was hugely popular in New York throughout the 50's. Jares son Joe would go on the write about his father in some of the first shoot articles and book "Whatever Happened to Gorgeous Geroge".
This match is the main event from The St Nicholas Arena in New York. The great wrestler and actor Mike Mazurki is the referee. Johnny Doyle was working in New York as matchmaker at the time.

Major film you've uncovered; thank you! Significant for the match, for Rocca's clear English comments when interviewed (in later years, like Henry Kissinger, his accent would thicken for TV interviews), for his explanation of his desire to become a U.S. citizen and why-and-when he departed Italy in favor of Argentina.

The young Rocca is a marvel to watch. Though purists (a relative term in pro wrestling!) might laugh at his improbable style, he was a great performer, not only high flying but also graceful and powerful, setting a much faster pace than he did a few years later. And his popularity was amazing, as you note. The Image here may be a bit muddy but the sound picks up every grunt, groan, slap and slam in the ring. A great addition.

Glad you have footage on Frank Jares. Hope you have more. I have his son's book and is interested in seeing more of Frank, if available.

Amazing that not once but twice he did not submit to the Argentinian backbreaker.
