Our favourite Sergio Aragones often gets mistaken for the creator of Spy Vs Spy, Antonio Prohias. So, in this video, I take a look at the real story behind Mad Magazine's popular Spy vs Spy comic strips, looking especially at the early life of it's creator, Antonio Prohias, and some of his early comics that led to the creation of Antonio's Spy characters, like El Hombre Siniestro.
Then I take a look at various times that Sergio snuck drawings of the Black Spy and the White Spy into his drawings for Mad Magazine and finally, Sergio's tribute strip, his actual Spy Vs Spy comic in the February 2021Mad issue, Sergio's Mad Travels.

Videos about Groo the Wanderer from Mad Magazine Writer and Cartoonist Sergio Aragonés. Comic Book artist Mark Evanier, Stan Sakai (who makes Usagi Yojimbo comics) and Tom Luth who is the colorist of the comics. Marvel comics used to publish Groo the Wanderer under the Epic Comics brand for artist owned comics. Before that Pacific Comics and Eclipse Comics published Groo the Wanderer. After Marvel Comics, Groo went to Image Comics for a year and for the longest time, Groo is published by Dark Horse Comics. Rufferto is Groo's Dog, Conan the Barbarian and Tarzan of the Apes have had crossover comics with Groo too.

Outstanding! I've been enjoying your wonderful videos. I was introduced to Groo in the early 90s, reading a large collection belonging to a friend. I was born late 60s and grew up with mad magazine of course. Always loved marginals. In elementary school friends would bring pocket books of Spy vs Spy. Always a favorite and I am enjoying memories of friends sharing comic books and magazines, which I could never afford. Wonderful video thank you!

Hey! Thank you very much for sharing your history with Groo and Spy vs Spy! You're probably just a few years older than me, and I was fortunate enough to get on-board with Groo right at the beginning. My fandom was waning in the 90s, but I never really abandoned my love of Groo. It's fun, as a dad, sharing Groo with my children.

This is truly awe-inspiring book series these guys has dedicated for their most popular part of the showmfor me Spy Vs Spy is something really interesting to see as the intrigue is found from two spies, one step ahead each other everytime. And the wondering who is gonna win this time.

I had to order my copy online as there’s no place in my city that carries Mad anymore. Not that I could find, anyway. 😀

Awesome episode! I didn’t know the background of the artists which is great to learn about from your video and the comics themselves. And finally just kindly pointing out a typo in “El Hombre Siniestro”, it’s missing the “i” before “e” and makes it sound “See knEE ES troh”
