As a little surprise visitor it came to the ILA Air Show 2018 in Berlin Schönefeld - and you were not only able to get very close to the aircraft - you could literally touch it and walk inside (before the pushback i was able to go into the cockpit)! I’m stunned to learn this beautiful aircraft was destroyed in a bombing last year! I saw it take off in Houston some (15) years ago, a sight I’ll never forget. 😢

And imagine that all this had to be designed, financed. And maybe it was only in the USSR, and not in Ukraine (this country can only exploit and sell something). The aircraft was designed and built in the USSR at the Kiev Mechanical Plant (project manager - V.I. Tolmachev) in 1984−88. The first flight was made on December 21, 1988. Initially, two cars were laid, at present only one copy is in flight condition and is operated by the Ukrainian company Antonov Airlines, the second copy was never completed. Let's just forget how much it takes to maintain its usability, the stabile work of all the systems and so - what is being done almost daily for the last >10 years of usage.

I saw a C5-B coming in for a landing once. During it's approach, it looked like a cruise ship with wings. This beautiful bird is even larger!

an 225 has 6 engines so 6 * 51500 = 309000 LBF thrust. and the a380 has 4 engines 4 * 80210 = 312000 lbf. so basicly the a380 is stronger
