I'm Scottish, lived in England many years ago and travelled all over (not been to Norfolk yet). Great to see things like this being kept alive. We shouldn't allow our traditions and local customs to be forgotten. Britain is particularly rich in this respect.

@@Mademoiselle_Opossum Stupid comparison to make. I'm sure Russia has a very well established and interesting culture - why should that denigrate British culture? It's like me saying, for example, that Andean culture must be rubbish because my Scottish culture is rich and interesting. Makes no sense.

Excellent. Some traditionalists may have a problem with this, but I think that morris dancers like this are the way to move forward and flourish. I'm sixty-six, and when I was younger, many of the traditional events like this had all but disappeared. Along came revivalists who resuscitated Morris dancing and other local festivals like the Straw Bear festival in Whittlesey where I spent my teenage years. They will continue to thrive as young people inject new ideas and create new 'traditions'.

Morris dancing HAD to change after WWI because so many young men were killed in the war...women finally got to do it more 'officially,' so as to keep the tradition alive.

That was excellent, keep the ancient British traditions alive at all costs. We may have forgotten the origins but it doesn't matter. Did everyone see the little girl dancing she had rhythm.
