@@fallingintofilm IMDb ratings are based on how people rate it. When less people know abt it it usually gets less ratings as well. The movies are in late 30s, 40s and 50s. And critics has always take sides especially from Japan itslef, those bashed him and against him going with western influences in his movies and considered directors like Kenji Mizoguchi better since the focus was mainly local. A sense of nationalism kind of belief existed even in those times for film as well. This is just my opinion.

Working with legends like Walter Pigeon, Henry Fonda, Ray Milland, Gary Cooper, Spencer Tracy, Edward G. Robinson, Peter Lorre etc!!! And also Akira Kurosawa, Japan’s most well known director and interned into the list of one of the greatest directors ever by Hollywood and presented with an honorary Oscar in 1990 after having his films copied and remade in Hollywood!!! Fun fact, Akiro Kurusawa was the first one to introduce high speed filmmaking, or slow mo. He is the father of slow mo. You guys are into film making and you don't know Kurusawa? Well I play the guitar and for years I didn't know Alan Holdsworth!!! So not a crime to ignorant!!
