The big reason is culture .....bollywood movies lacks culture .....and by culture I don't mean traditions or anything...... What I mean is the way human to human interaction happens ....for eg- if you watch 2 or 3 good malayalam movies ....you will get an idea about how people interact in Kerala ....what is the social dynamic there ... How people live there .....etc

RRR is a good film that we can watch in theatres. But not for Oscar.......

I believe that he has already involved in 3 movies in Kerala.. Also along with Fahad and Mohanlal

Malayalam actors and film technicians spend their free time learning about the socio-political situations of Kerala, not just about the art. Even if they borrow elements from other films, they bring value to the table with real, original performances.

Thanks to ott platforms, subtitles and exposure to all india films for bringing so much awareness and variety to the audience. Initially also malayalam movies used to be too good, but they had to be remade in bollywood like hera pheri, bhool bhulaiyaa , garam masala , chup chup ke, hungama, dhol. Now people are getting to see the raw and original versions.

He said he had 8 scripts that never got a producer ... come down south dude . Make it in malayalam or tamil or telugu . Am sure u will find someone . And many more to enjoy watching it , with positive criticism

One most important factor is also the lack of passion for films , story telling and film making , the emotions associated with that, Bollywood now lacks passion and emotion. telugu, tamil , malayalam and kannada films have emotioms attached to it,so people associate to it are more in touch with reality, whereas bollywood lives in a lala land.

In. Tamil pa ranjith's neelam productions is only taking content related movies instead of commercial cinema. no other prodducers have the guts to produce back to back such movies.

People don't care about what the political background of the director is, they are more concerned about getting fed with overtly political messaging.

RRR : from RAJ KAPOOR; RAJESH KHANNA; to RANVEER SINGH Hindi cinema has had that substance but sadly the Neponians screwed it up with utter half knowledge and utmost arrogance of the art. I wish to see a rollback of the Hindi film industry. South is different coz, their modern living so freakingly blends with the nativeness of the land they are born, also art is something south has in their DNA.

Seeing people arguing in the comment section on best film industry is pitiful, that itself proves the point that nowdays how people are degrading others blindfolded and how much people get offended for minor issues, Every film industry has good and bad movies, appreciate and spend money only for the the good ones. I don't think RRR is worthy of Oscar. Imagine it being nominated. People will think this is the best Indians could bring up ... I mean we have far better movies that are deserving.

I have been watching movies in atleast 5 languages for last few years...let me try to summarize few things abt these different cultures.. Happened to watch Amis, Assamese movie...it's abt cannibalism....it was a well appreciated movies...Can the audience digest such content.. Watched a movie in Malayalam called Puzhu...Again a well appreciated movie...it had serious racist tone...No way, it can be made in Hindi..the movie halls will be burned down... A movie like Article 15 in hindi...It was a great movie but it flopped... In South and East, the audience are matured and there is no boycott culture... In North, audience is living in stone age....including the critics and vloggers

Bollywood don’t have freedom to anything how then they will make movies. Audience is the reason for that. Criticise current politics situation , against law, against society, against casteism etc , what will happen.

I think just sending a movie that's highly acclaimed and is a favourite among critics and audiences in Hollywood ( which is in the case of RRR) is the safest bet to secure atleast a nomination. And people complaining about RRR being unrealistic well....there are so many other Hollywood films that are even more unrealistic than RRR, that got nominated and some of them even won. Also some scenes shown in the movie aren't completely unrealistic like Bheem tossing a motorcycle. Motorcycles at that time weighed only 50 kgs so that soldiers can easily carry them while crossing rivers. And considering how strong Bheem is, it makes sense. RRR is miles ahead of any movie depicting British Colonialism.

Superhero/ fantasy / action / horror scripts will be a best solution. If I was a Bollywood director I would have work on movies like the immortal of aswasthtama. I could have wrote scripts based on ancient mystics of india. Movies based on real horror story of india like the kuldhaara village. N I would never insert an unnecessary love story or any type of item song. I would have keep the tone of the movie dark and serious. If this Bollywood directors understand soon then it will attract not only indian audience but more foreigne audience as well.

The root of the problem has not been touched upon. It is quite simple really. The Hindi heartland has lost its moral and intellectual base. It was not like this in the 50's and 60's (and even the 70's). It is now a hollow society. Is there even one good piece of literature or music or painting that has come out of the 800-odd million people of these areas during the past 40 years?

You are saying that cinema is a reflection of the society that is true ...but films like LSC which showcase a Indian soldier helping a Pakistani militant that doesn't happen in indian society...you should talk about this kind of scenarios where the general audience will get offended because most of our brothers working in indian military service...and they are well aware of who is indian soldier and who is pakistani also i wanna add a point somehow an indian soldier saves a Pakistani militant but do you think the government and medical stuff wouldn't recognise him or not try to find out who is he...this kind things makes a movie weak in their respective plot ...which will create hate towards a particular stars...apart from them LSC is a good film

What Anurag tell is a truth, however there are more into it. First of all the same Anurag Kashyap is into the powerful Bollywood film industry which is left leaning politically. It is against this powerful Left leaning Bollywood cartel that people are protesting against. One important contention of many people is Bollywood movies continues to make movies denigrating Indian culture and tries to laugh at Hinduism in name of progressiveness. This isn’t working anymore. Second, Bollywood movies are not living upto the mark of doing soft diplomacy through its films. ie Showing Indian Armed forces, security establishments properly, while going at any length to portray Pakistan or Pakistanis/ISI as good human beings or samaritans. (Recent Lal Singh Chadha showing the terrorist in Kargil as a good man). Bollywood is failing colossally and it is high time Bollywood correct themselves and get sensitivised in these areas.

Quite admirable everything he said but can we pause for a second and wonder who is campaigning for ppls participation from all works of life but did not extend his support to Sushant Singh Rajput. Projects drying up for SSR is not new we have seen this before also when it happened to Vivek Oberoi so even though he is well respected outside of India Anurag has conformed to bollywood industry's expectations so as not to offend anyone as it would impact his bread n butter. So his political stance is just that for show, the other day he indirectly insinuated that Modi govt is responsible for boycott culture using the butter analogy now pls explain to me how tone deaf is that. I mean ppl are watching Karthikeya 2 inspite of price of butter due to GST but Anurag refuses to admit ppl in India are fed up of remakes or non relatable or hindu bashing movies. In this review it says he wrote 9 scripts during lockdown and found takers for only one script but the last time I checked his net worth was around $110 million(Rs950 crores). Now with a little financing or making the movie a small budget he can fund some of the movies by himself. Mr Kashyap wants other financiers to take the risk of financing his movies but Kashyap himself is not willing to take on that risk does that not speak volumes abt him. I mean you can throw temper tantrums as to why u find it difficult to find someone to finance ur movies but you have the means to do it on ur own and yet you refuse to put money where ur mouth is. Seriously guys highly acclaimed Anurag Kashyap known for movie like Gangs of Wasseypur is now making a remake of Spanish movie, just doesn't add up.
