There are plenty of annoying anxiety symptoms and the frequent urge to urinate has to be on of them. For some of us suffering from this their thoughts might convince them that they are suffering from, diabetes, bladder or prostate cancer but actually it is a very common anxiety symptom.
Of course it is like having this constant need to go and pee. You could of just went to the restroom and then find yourself having the urge to go right back there after. For me it got so bad that it felt like my bladder was about to explode but then when actually going to the restroom there wasn't much to urinate at all.
This feeling can come and go, only happen when feeling panic or be very persistent and you have to deal with it daily.
In this video i will explain where this sensation comes from and how anxiety can make us feel like we are losing control over out bladder.

During my college years, I experienced urinary urgency and anxiety when traveling to school via two buses. This caused me to avoid social situations such as long trips with friends and even tuck in my shirt. The thought of sitting for a 3-hour exam caused me nightmares and often resulted in leaving early.

Hello guys I was like you all, won't say I am 100 percent improved but I just devised some methods 1) focus on some other part of the body, pinch yourself(sounds stupid) but divert attention somewhere else. 2) BREATHEE we don't realise but we do tend to hold up our breath 3) our bladders can hold pee for 24 hrs and be fine so dw 4) if you have an imp meeting and you fear it'll happen it'll happen more for that fool your brain, don't sip enuff liquid the previous night or have caffeine based drinks. IT HELPS TRUST ME 5) try square breathing and try being positive about it. I took a small therapy sesh so this is what I learnt. I hope this helps, it sucks we have it but not for long. :) Cheers.

I'm a 20 y/o dude and this has been happening to me since Novemberish 2020, and it is absolutely horrible! I've generally been anxious since early high school, though this is just the cherry on top ;_; Think it started on a bus ride home from university (I live out of the city so a bit of a trip) where I really needed to pee, and since then that sense of panic/stress has haunted me. Had therapy for general anxiety and stress for a bit earlier this year, and it did help, though symptoms keep creeping back into my life anyways.. Having trouble sleeping at night, being scared of going places (especially to the city, closer to where my friends live), is just awful. Hope everyone here manages to deal with their stress and live a fulfilling life free from stuff like this. EDIT (12/22): Just an update since I think it might help people to hear how things are going a year down the line. I'm slowly recovering from this issue to the point where I am able to go places pretty comfortably now, and the stress and anxiety is not as disruptive anymore. I can sleep totally normally, and have been fine on buses as well; cars are a work in progress but it's getting there. I definitely think this is something we can all recover from at least! It just takes time, patience, and being kind to yourself about the issues. Things that helped me a tonne were to talk with friends about my issue, or to try normalise it enough in my friend group that I didn't feel 'weird' or 'different' for having this issue. I talked to family about it as well (as crazy as it sounds I didn't feel like talking about it initially) which helped a whole bunch. Turns out one of my diabetic friends has a similar issue as well, and none of us knew! In my case I think my fear of embarrassment was what drove my anxiety, so telling people about it helped. Hope everyone recovers and gets back to living comfortably again!

Currently facing severe anxiety. Med I was put on, isn't as effective as it was and everything is just creeping back, but feels 10x worse then before. I keep constantly body checking, mental checking, anything that could deem out of ordinary. Issue I'm currently having is bladder frequency. Just out of the blue one day, automatically thought that it was a UTI (I'm 24 and never once had any UTI's) but I also have the typical habit of 'WebMDing' stuff and of course, find other numerous possibilities that obviously don't help. I had blood work and urine done. Urine came back normal. Cholesterol is a little high (Expected) liver enzymes are a little up (fatty liver since I've always been over weight) and a vitamin D deficiency. No signs of bladder stones, since I thought that maybe it was a blockage, I have been seeing debre in my pee from time to time, but nothing unusual came back from the test. No infection. No dehydration. Nothing my doc was concerned about. She just said "Probably just your anxiety." It's been almost a week now the urge to pee frequently. It changes up. Could pee a lot one minute, could pee less the next. Could have to pee 10 minutes after going one minute, then another time go a few hours or maybe even the entire day without the urge, untill night time because it's been worse at night, specifically when I lay down. I feel bladder discomfort and tell myself it's just my anxiety. It keeps me awake at night, thinking I have a blockage, but remember that my results came back fine. Even get a weird 'Burn' feeling down there (Not painful just uncomfortable) or what feels like bladder zaps. But it's never consistent. Or even the back aches I get. My mind is fixated on it almost constantly now. Accessing the possibilities. Worrying and trying to reason with myself at the same time. Thinking that I have kidney failure or some sort of cancer. Just the worse possible case scenarios. Sometimes I feel relief. Other times I feel like my bladder isn't emptying completely or dropped out of place. I'm just at the point where I feel constantly trapped in a never ending loop. Process of elimination. Might have one good day or two out of an entire month. But this frequent peeing and discomfort, is super annoying. Even if it's just my anxiety. My brain doesn't accept that fact. It just 'Feels and looks'. So alas. As I'm making this comment, I have already peed about 8 or 9 times throughout the night.

Also underwent ultrasonography but thanks to God, everything was normal. I have the constant urge to pee like 15-20 times a day. And at night it is even more. I can't understand what the problem is when my reports are absolutely normal. My new doctor said I have an anxious personality and maybe that's why I get to pee so often. I’m 16 but I’ve been dealing with frequent urination for years. I used to take medicine which helped me a lot. ATM I don’t need that because I’ve learned to deal with it. First of all, I recommend you see a specialist, someone who deals with anxiety like a psychiatrist. He will help you more than anyone. I’ve learned to deal with it by simply experiencing it way too many times. First of all you need to realise you can go to the bathroom if you want and whenever you want! No one can stop you. Second of all, you should find a way to calm yourself down. To me it always helped, during crisis, to sit somewhere ( that not a toilet so you don’t think about it ) and watch anything related to spongebob. It helped me a lot. My teachers are aware of the situation and I’ve left classrooms when I was having tests to go to the bathroom. It’s okay to go to the bathroom. Just go if you need to and find something that makes you feel better. I still suffer from anxiety and frequent urination but not only it is weaker as I can control it quicker that I used to.

Yeeeesssss!! This is me exactly! I am 55 years old and probably going through menopause. I would go on line to see if anyone else has had this. I would see the most horrific situations describing urinary issues. I saw a few women talking about Fowlers Syndrome or Instatial (i know I spelled that wrong!) Cystitis. I kept thinking what it that happens to me, that I get urinary retention or can't urinate at all????? I have already had urinary hesitancy. I have been to my GP, urogynecologist, and most embarrassingly the ER where I had to be cathed. The ER doctor came right out and said everything was normal and suspected anxiety. There has also been times where I didn't have any kind of bladder feeling which is just as scary! This has been going off and on for about 6 years now.

@@josephtrejo1000 Honestly I am getting over it slowly I still dread it in school when I feel like I am restricted to use the restroom. But I am slowly learning to sit through the sensation and accept how it is all in my head. Just dont try to suppress the urge and face it head on. I have sat through multiple 2-3 hours long exams in past few months which I was dreading before and trust me when i tell you it is just your brain catastrophizing the whole situation, reality is much better and all of the stuff you're imagining won't even happen. Just dont run from the situation in your case being the trip and dont overdo your visit to restroom just to "make sure" because it will just train your brain to panic ( this was the mistake I did ). Go ahead and have a good time engage with other people and activities because overthinking this will make you more stressed and talk to someone about this if you can because it surely will help. And remember that you can always make stops during the trip to use the restroom and you will not be the only one having the urge to use the restroom there might be others feeling the same so make sure to communicate. Go and enjoy your time don't let this stop you from making new experiences. Sorry for the long para but I hope it was a little helpful. You're going to be fine don't worry.

I started having this at school very early… lived with it more than half of my life. I was always afraid of not being able to go to the bathroom during a lesson because a teacher wouldn’t let me leave classroom… I started avoiding school trips, any longer rides.. etc I don’t really use buses till this days and it started in like 2010 When I started tech I was already afraid of exams that would be in 4 years because they last 3 hours each exam… but I hope I’d be fine till then 🥲 no I wasn’t, i got really bad anxiety not long before that I didn’t attend those, my life started getting better when I was out of school I didn’t feel that mych pressure and stress, what really helped me lately was hypnosis, I understood it is a normal thing to go to the bathroom, I know I go to the bathroom more often than other people but at least it’s not every 30minut, it’s now like every 3 hours and Im proud of it. But still when I know there would be a situation where im not able to use a bathroom I statt to panic and it feels like I gotta go now! i guess it’s just trauma

What helped my control my frequent urination is just don't sit around all day. Go outside take a walk talk to your friends anything that will take of your mind from anxiety. This way I've noticed that I don't usually pee that often. If you're having troubles peeing frequently just make sure to visit your Urologist just to make sure you don't have any serious underlying problems.

I merely assumed I had the bad luck of getting both at the same time 🫤. I’ve since gotten past most of the anxiety symptoms, but still have frequent urination, which I have been trying to resolve (yes, I have medical exams and tests for blood, prostate, etc.). This definitely gives me some good food for thought. Thanks 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I’ve had OAB for more than 13 years. And it seems I almost cured it just a month ago. Was trying different doctors. It took multiple years until they set a proper diagnosis. I tried electrical stimulation, Mirabegron, Solifenacin. Medication helped a bit, but after I stopped taking it, the symptoms got back to what had. In November here were my complains: * I went to a bathroom about 15 times a day (60ml - 130ml per one time) * 2-3 times during night * During mastrubation I had to make a break to pee * If I wanted to go to a bathroom then I had to do it ASAP. So in November another doctor recommended trying a Bladder training. As a main treatment. I adjusted it a bit my way and unbelievably I got my first results in 2 weeks: first time for maybe last 10 years I didn’t go to a bathroom at night. Then I started to go to the bathroom more rarely. Here is what I got now: * I go to a bathroom 5-7 times a day (200 - 300ml per one time) * Haven’t gone to a bathroom at night last 1 month * I can easily wait if I need So for some reason doctors didn’t recommend trying bladder training and hence I thought it wouldn’t help, so didn’t bother. ======== One important thing to mention. Those recommendations are for Overactive bladder, which is a diagnosis urologists made for my case. It’s not like I just decided that OAB is my case. Before starting OAB treatment I made blood, urine tests as well as Cystoscopy and Urodynamic testing to exclude other reasons. ======== Here is my modification of the bladder training which helped me to get cured from Overactive bladder which I suffered from for about 13 years: With the help of pelvic floor physiotherapist learn how to achieve these things: How to understand that your pelvic floor muscles are contracted. The doctor might use “biofeedback” device to help you with this How to relax pelvic floor muscles Keep a bladder diary. Record how many millilitres you urinate every time you go to a bathroom. While at home you can have a plastic bottle at the toilet with the volume marks. While not at home you can use a zip-bag which you also have to mark. Like 50 ml, 100 ml, 150 ml and so on. Analyse the reason why you might want to urinate. Be aware that sometimes the reason is caused by some patterns. For example, here are some patterns that I have: when getting up from a chair/bed; when sitting with my legs bent underneath me; when coming back from outside to home; when feeling depressed; when taking shower; when pooping. Then every time you want to urinate ask yourself: “Why do I want to urinate? Is it caused by a pattern? If so, what can I change? Can I wait a bit more?“. F.e. if the urge is caused by a body position like when sitting with my legs bent underneath me, then take a position when pelvic floor muscles are not contracted. If the urge is caused by a pattern like when you get up from a chair, then recognize that it’s just a pattern and try to ignore the urge for some time. When you are already at the toilet and about to urinate. Do these steps: Try to analyse how badly you want to urinate. Is it 10/10 or 5/10? Do you feel that sometimes your stomach is a bit stretched when you want to urinate and sometimes the urge is just in the head? If the urge is not that intense, can you try to not to urinate and postpone it a little bit? Like 15 minutes? After you urinate, write down in the diary how many millilitres you urinated. Next time you at the toilet play a game: Based on your feelings and urge evaluation, try to guess how many millilitres you are going to urinate. This was the key technique for me. After some time you’ll learn to understand by your feelings/sensations how many mls you’re going to urinate. Use this prediction skill and when you feel that the volume is going to be below 200 ml, try to relax the pelvic floor muscles and just ignore the urge. Go to the bathroom only when you think it’s going to be above 200 ml. The only exception when you go to the bathroom to urinate and you feel it’s going to be less than 200 ml is before going to bed at night. During the night try not to go to the bathroom right away. Try to resist as much as you can, but don’t torture yourself. Just make a bit of effort. Don’t drink like 3 hours before bed. Try to see if reducing the coffee intake helps. Don’t bother with how often you go to urinate. For me if I drink a litre of cola then at the very beginning of the training I can urinate within a 15 minutes interval. That doesn’t matter. What matters is to be above 200 ml. The doctor advised me to try the bladder training for 1 month and if I don’t see any changes, then we can add the medication like Mirabegron to help following the training. After 2 weeks of the training I didn’t go to urinate at night. Probably that was the first time in the last 10 years. Then later I went to urinate less and less at night. Last month I didn’t urinate at night at all. Wish you all luck!

It starts with the constant urge after just peeing then kind of slowly eases off and eventually goes then like months later itll come back randomly. I've had diabetes test, kidney check, urine samples and physical examination all fine. No pain and clear pee. It's so frustrating. My doc says anxiety but it's hard knowing if it really is anxiety 😪

Guys whenever this things happen to me I perform some breath exercises that eliminates anxiety and stress and I once again get control of myself. I had the urge to use bathroom when I was just leaving my house and I did not use the bathroom when it was few feet away from me. I rather did that exercise and my body slowly started to relax. So here it is, take in breath for 4 seconds and then hold it in for 4 seconds and then release breath for 4 seconds and then hold it again for 4 seconds. You will just start to realise how free you feel. When I did that I was outside for a full 2 hours learning to drive (so you can see why I was just feeling stressed) and then when I came home even then I was completely fine.

I had this problem when I was around 8 or 9 and then I got checked by the doctors and it went away and came back when I was 11, currently I turned 12 a while ago and during quarantine I feel less nervous since I constantly go at school and I can’t focus on work, but I worry about returning to school since I pee every hour at school. Anywhere besides school I usually can last up to 3 hours, hardly though since I usually last up to 2 hours and 30 mins but I’m trying to last up to atleast 3 or 4 hours. Field trips are coming up and the bus rides are usually long and I wanna go to the field trips but at the same time not since I usually go to the restroom a lot. This bothers me everytime, I worry about going to the restroom at the store, school, park, sometimes even parties. Sometimes even home when I’m trying to play games with my friends but I don’t wanna tell them I need to go every hour or so. I need help with this problem, my family thinks it’s anxiety related since I get checked up a while but now I don’t since quarantine. Yeah it’s hard for me to focus on work and play with friends. It’s bullshit since I’m trying to enjoy life and I don’t wanna remember my childhood just me going to restroom a lot. Hope for it to go away soon since 7th grade is coming up, I’ll give some help once doctors help me.

Very possible that your mind has linked your house as something dangerous that should be avoided. But hey having a whole week without any major anxiety is a huge deal in itself. Use this momentum to snowball your recovery process. Hey man really sorry to hear that you have to deal with this! Ive been through the same and know how debilitating it can be. For me it was mostly during work too. But if you have been checked out and was cleared from anything else work on lowering your stress and negative self talk. Conentrate on releasing tension in your body by working out, stretching and scanning your body for any tense spots and then consciously release that tension. The mind is so connected with the body and you will notice that after this the mind will be a lot less anxious and think less about this problem. Once you have achieved this you will notoce some major improvement. Wish you all the best man and if there is anything i can help you with just let me know 🙌

I caught this anxiety when i was in junior school i was about 4 or 5 year old because of that everybody stare at me and it leads to an another anxiety which is i can't pee around public my subconscious mind always tells me every one gonna attack on you during urination there's an another reason when i was in middle school there was some spoiled kids who always used to bother me during urination i think it probably started then and i still can't get rid of it even though I'm 18 now. My symptoms are i can't pee in public I pee quite often but not to much urine comes out when ever i pee i even visited so many doctors they all told me drink too much water and don't think too much which is kinda impossible for me.

@@hajimehinata9 My therapist had the approach that if you could calm yourself down first (since at least I tend to get stressed and panicky when I need to pee), you can then try hard to think about something else, and usually, that does the trick. I've had to go to the bathroom at night for a while now, but when I think of unrelated stuff I tend to be able to knock myself out.

I had kidney stones last month and it was a pretty bad experience. One of my symptoms was consistently having the urge to pee. I would pee and 1 minute later the urge would come right back. All that's said and done. Fast forward a month and I'm convinced I'm feeling the same "urge" and it's driving me insane. I don't know if it's all in my head or actually a physical symptom I'm feeling. My mind is thinking about it the whole timw I'm awake. As soon as I wake up my mind goes straight to wondering if I have something wrong. It's driving me crazy. Then I'll convince myself I just felt a pain in my back or like I have a strange feeling where I have to pee. I've been on antibiotics for a week now for a upper respiratory infection (doxycycline 100mg) so I thought if I had a UTI that would make it go away as well. My cold is basically gone but the urge to pee is not. I know I sound super crazy but it's making my life hell. Anybody ever experience this?

@@Manny_zo6 it was all in my head or either lingering effects from the kidney stones. I went to the ER multiple times and they said everything was normal from the tests. It was hard but I kept telling myself that I was okay and nothing is wrong and it's all in my head, it took a couple of months but I woke up one day and just didn't think about it anymore oddly enough. Right now I feel like I have to pee just thinking about it 🤣 I'm not a doctor and this is not medical advice and I don't know you personally but I will say it's most likely anxiety and overthinking, the more you think about it the worse it gets, the more you try to stop thinking about it the more it forces you to think about it lol its a tricky thing to deal with. I haven't gone to therapy or anything but I think I need to and I would suggest you do the same if you have health anxiety and over think constantly Like myself. I wish you well, just keep telling and reminding yourself that the doctor visit proved everything was normal and anxiety is the enemy in the situation, its going to be hard but I promise it will get better eventually:)
