Thank you for this mate 👍🏻 Lovely clear explanation. I have been doing this myself for the last 2 years, extreame phobia of heights and open spaces, i literally lose my vision if i go to far into that fear. For a short while i got better and better, but then recently its suddenly taken a massive step backwards and has become even worse than it ever was 🤦🏼‍♂️ After watching this i have a feeling that i have been pushing myself too far because each experience created a ton of anxiety but i stayed with it, which in effect was making every experience awful and exhausting, plus i would beat myself up about having such ridiculous fears. I think its time i go back to the drawing board, and only push myself until the anxiety is present but bearable and then stay at that level until it becomes comfortable. Thank you again, i do videos myself so really appreciate your efforts 🙏🏼💙new sub 👌🏻

I just want to say thank you. This information is so helpful and extremely logical! I'm going to come back and watch these again. I need to do something about my anxiety and this seems like the right way to go. I have probably had close to 100 panic attacks in the last year! I usually have several in a row, over and over. Sometimes I can't sleep because they won't let me. They're exhausting though. I know this much anxiety can't be healthy for me. I really need to face my fears. My anxiety stems from childhood and adult abuse situations. I've had panic attacks every once in a while throughout my younger life maybe one every few years, but this last year has been extremely difficult and full of anxiety! It's partly due to covid, but I would say a larger part isn't. I think maybe covid fears are just exacerbating it because it's something I think about and am concerned about pretty much every day on some level. I've been fully vaccinated but I have known people who were vaccinated and still got it. Anyway, enough about me, lol. Thanks again. God bless you!

Yeah I actually do this naturally!🙂... what I do with chores/renos around the house that I don't want to do...cause I don't know how and have anxiety about screwing it up. I pick that I feel most capable of doing at that time!😉

Any tips or tricks to break the initial barrier? I find it far too easy to just walk away or keep my head down and avoid talking to people. I have done other things to force myself into doing things I don't really want to. E.g move my phone away from the bed so I have to get up to switch it off. Any idea for an equivalent for social interaction? Shortening the path of most resistance. Ooops, I'm in the situation now. Whelp, guess I have no choice 😋

Getting over the first hurdle is often the hardest part so it's important to set the bar as low as possible. It's hard to suggest something without know the types of interactions you're avoiding. Can you give me an example of the sorts of situations where this happens? Are there any situations in which you are able to talk to people? If you work with other people, can you talk to them? Can you say hi to someone you pass walking down the street? Can you say hi to someone working in a store where you're shopping? Can you order takeout over the phone or go in a coffee shop and order a coffee?
