Manga with isekai, manhwa with regession/system, manhua with cultivating. Some good some bad, still subjective and personal preference counts.

I'm part of the people who love Solo Leveling, not because that he's OP, it's that he has a character progression. He changed. From the naive kid, after getting betrayed once in the Double Dungeon, he vowed to train and seek strength because he was given a chance, and then he changed again into a cold and calculated hunter after the second betrayal by Hwang Dongsuk's gang but he didn't go entirely heartless, because he had Jinho who stayed loyal for the right reasons. A lot of Manwhas like... "Esper Battlefield / Superhuman Battlefield" or "Dragon-Devouring Mage" where the MC is reincarnated or "brought back" in some ways, the character never really changes. They never changed how they view things nor they have goals that would align or connect with the Viewers. SJW had a simple goal of providing for his family and especially mother after their Father had gone. A lot of people can sympathize with him, especially men. The others who's goals are for revenge or "just get stronger" with no effort or little effort at times, aren't as interesting to see because we can't relate to the struggle to get to where they are in most times. The way SL worked, is probably because of the settings and the character progression and him meeting the one who records his struggles, all evidence of his resistance in life, the reward for all of his pain. Meeting death.

I watched it a couple of days ago. It's a fun 'from zero to hero' story. I kinda agree that some of the tropes are similar with other stories/titles, but that's how genres in popular media work, I guess. Oh also, I loved the artstyle and animation.

It was good though, but the other characters never got many impactful moments for the story except the main heroine

@@Naraku19899 Yeah, it's the main reason i ended up dropping it. The drawings are super good and badass, and the hype is well built, but character wise, even the MC felt very bland to me, my friend told me i stopped reading before the story started getting more meaningful, but at that point i just didn't care much, i read a lot of mindless stories and can enjoy them, but i only end up caring for the ones i really take a linking to the world, story or characters. Overall i think of SL as a good manhwa, but personally it's not the type of story that gets me pumped. My friend would score it 12/10, personally i don't feel like i could give it more then 6 if i consider stuff like Berserk, Vinland Saga and Monster to be at the top, but that's a very skewed scoring based on personal preference and using the same scale for every genre and type of work, which i don't feel like it's very productive. In the OP MC, reverse isekai corner it's definitely amongst the best. It's really a matter of taste, in this trope/genre deepening the characters is not really that important, and it's common that the MC is the only relevant character, it does say "Solo" in its title after all.

Before solo leveling there was an anime maybe too underatted or not the title was magi and after magi was danmachi that what i know anime about dungeon i read manhwa before but i dropped it cause it fucking long and i got bored

I like fantasy one like magi, danmachi and comedy one like Gintama and not like isekai I can't describe it but fumetsu no anata at first I confuse the anime was isekai or not but after watched until the last episode i love it so much I even read the Manga so worth it

I dont hate solo leveling, i just dont care for it. Made it to episode 6 or 7 and just dropped it.

@@RootBeerYT it's like you died in video game, and press retry. Essentially it's working like that. It's not really "official" genre because it's often got replace by isekai, reincarnation, and somee kind like that, etc

I hate modern manhua because they just copy and paste plot armor, but some of all time favorite comics books is from manhua like ravage of time, weirdly enough some of my favorites martial arts comics is from korean manhwa it's ruler of the land and the breaker and the breaker new waves, non of the above comics books i mentioned is in webtoon style long strip format, all is in old style black and white books

Oh I can't stand webtoon. I used to wait every 1/2 weeks only to read a new chapter update consisting of a long strip of maybe 1 scene/conversation. Haha not really my cup o tea
