Americans are blown away by British history. When in Grasmere, a lovely group of Americans kept says how petite the landscape was and “ain’t it quaint” was said often. They were so kind and absolutely loved our Queens Pembroke Corgi Emma she got spoiled rotten with loads of cuddles and photographs it was lovely. When we were at Howsteds Hadrian Wall, as usual it was chucking it down and very windy. My Dad commented, I’m sorry you’ve had a rest visit, but the Canadians in this case said, “Don’t worry, it all adds to the atmosphere”. So our very long varied history and human story is special to them, it made me feel very proud of my inheritance. Which it turns out is Very much Scottish, with Robert The Bruce as a very close blood relative and his first wife Elizabeth Mar. No wonder I’m very emotional about bag pipe music and Scotland. Not to mention my love of the Lake District and Martindale and Ullswater.

I adore this painting! As an American I absolutely cringe when I hear you say you’d love to come to America, I’ve always found this country so superficial, it’s landscapes in the business of being ruined by greedy politicians and contractors (though there are still a few remaining alcoves of true beauty to be found, and I would love to see what you would do with the landscapes of Hawaii, the Chihuahua deserts and Utah’s Red Rocks; some of the vast, beautiful plains of Eastern Kansas haven’t yet been desiccated, and are reminiscent of the Andrew Wyeth painting “Christina’s World.” ) I’m so glad and grateful to have stumbled upon your KZfaq channel 🙏🏼🌹

It always helps me to hear/see the comments about the reason for things you do. It's also very helpful to see what Emma does with your help. Voila. Emma can paint.

An excellent video -- lots of useful advice to help me clear several problems with my current project. Thank you! Also love the bit about the chair as a studio essential; I can vouch for that. I bought a good one a few months ago and it has made a huge difference. I love to look at clouds for relaxation; painting them without a photo (i.e. from memory) is a way to extend the experience. and learning not to overwork will make it even better.

The more I listen too and watch this video the more I just sense how natural this is. After all, your eyes make images that your brain perceives and understands what your lookin* at. If get my drift. I’ve always seen stuff inside my painted strokes anyway. But never been able to pull the forms out into real images. Thing like beasts and angels and swishing ghostly living things. I’d love to do that kinda deliberately. I also love Constable and Turner, but I live so near where Turner painted, Gibside Hall and Estates anyway. I love landscapes also. Well I’ll keep developing as I think I’m naturally being taken. If you were to really teach you’d pick out all my errors and pre-learned stuff and Id improve over night I know. Thank you millions.

Stuart, I have only just learned to paint with Acrylics. At eighty-three, a rank beginner, in fact. With Acrylics, I would like to try the Acrylic Gel medium as it seems to last a little longer. You asked for feedback on your last video, which I enjoyed watching when you painted your stormy clouds. Could you please speed it up some, as I must confess I dozed off and missed your final minutes? Which I must apologize for. I like your method of painting as it gives a good impression of what you paint, I must learn. I will be watching a lot more of your art on KZfaq from now on. John Eric Hoare.

Hi Stuart, really got psyched watching all your videos. I have done some oil painting in the past(many years ago). I feel more confident with sign lettering but your videos have inspired me to buy all the goodies and build an easel. Right now I'm copying your style as I appreciate the fast movement. Things that look easy are a sign of many years of experience. Your style of teaching is excellent as well. I would love to attend a class if you come over to the US.
