Is it possible for option 5th? TikTok creates a copy of the platform, e.g. TikTok2, and migrates all users to that platform. They will do that every 9 months, after every doj decision. Yeah, I know it is very abstract thinking.

I wonder why Nilay thinks that a 4G connection in the States wouldn’t allow for a fast response from the Rabbit. How much data is being transmitted per query that would facilitate that level of skepticism. Especially if Rabbits servers are doing the majority of the processing. Let me know if I’m off base on anything.

There's something that's not quite clear to me. Does TikTok has to be bought by an US company exlusively? Is any other country (other than Russia) be a viable solution?

It does not have to be bought by a US company, the company just has to be not considered a threat to the US (Like in your example Russia). However, given the cost of buying Tiktok, in the tens of billions of dollars or even over $100 billion, you can safely assume only a US company can afford it.

I only recently started listen to the podcast and I'm already hooked. Love the video episodes. Not sure if it was just me but i feel like at least in this episode I had a hard time understanding Nilay sometimes. I'm not sure if he mumbles or just has bursts of saying things really quickly and idk if it's just me?? Maybe my volume just wasn't loud enough

Apple does not normally buy big companies for integration issues (read problems with company culture conflict). That's why the biggest company they acquired is Beats at just 3 billion dollars for the audio talent of Jimmy Iovine and his team. They are extremely focussed for that reason, and they do not grow the company through acquisitions, they normally grow products and services or acquire small focussed companies.

Google would probably be the one to buy up TikTok. It would support their ads business. They can position the acquisition as creating more competition in the social media space, which Facebook dominates. The US Government would be more amenable towards big tech taking it over. Google also has the money to do it. Tiktok has the data that Google needs for AI.
