AnyTone ARES II 10/11m FM/AM/SSB Transceiver,Look around its Menu & Functions.
In this video we look at what it has to offer,the good and the bad.
On a whole it is a great little fun package with the looks of yesteryear.
I will eventually upload some on the air tests as soon as conditions open back up.

I bought a Alinco DR-135DX and a modulator-style antenna for the car during lockdown (to relive my youth In the 80s) but never got around to installing It. But after getting back from South Shields food festival, I saw this and installed the mount! Just need to program the radio and SWR!

Thanks for the vid, will be getting mine later today , want to give my president Jackson a part time job , now seeing it’s getting on in yrs , will make a video on my channel motorcycles and things ,,,,,,, been watching a lot of your vids and had most of the radios you’ve shown over the yrs , I started radio Cb , in 1979 , and still on cheers shane

Thanks Shane,I really haven’t started on my collection of Radios yet so stick around.I unfortunately sold my Jackson’s over lockdown along with quite a few rigs.You will enjoy the Ares I’m sure as it is great fun.I will pop over your channel later for a look. Thanks for visiting.

According to the Bank of England inflation calculator the price of this radio is the equivalent of £51 in 1981. There is a thought for you.

a great radio i have one its ok but its all been set up and i turn the echo off and the mic it came with is ok rodger beep of i hate it and had some very good contacts and the power i run mine at 7w and use a kicker radio stays cool and i have a fan on the kicker cool all around

Yeah i just prefer just good old plain audio too.You can actually get the bleeps to sound reasonable in the software but again it is not really my thing,although i am a sucker for the good old and much loved/hated HyGain V bleep.As for power these things pack a punch straight out of the back.

I prefer the front mounted microphone socket on the Ares 2 compared to the 3900's left side (which is the wrong side for a right hand drive car). Still undecided. How do you adjust the RF power output? Some of the descriptions say there are different power ranges, but it looks like its continuously adjustable on that rotary control.

I also like the front mounted mic socket and the extra facilities are quite useful on the Ares 2.Tomorrow i will see how effective the adjustable power is on the meter and come back to you.👍

Although both basically use the same chassis the 3900 is very basic in comparison.

In a word , EVERYTHING Crappy sounding microphone Ridiculous instruction manual Mine would literally not even talk across town. So I threw it in the scrap pile and went back to my cobra 142 . Anytone ares 11 radios should be banned from the market
