Thanks Matt. I’ve actually owned mine since 2018. Always good to hear what others have to say. I did do my homework before purchasing and I’m very happy with the rig, unlike my MD380.

Well done first video. I picked up this radio about a month ago. Your 10 points are right on. I got it running first on analog using the software. Learn analog programming first. Then I received my openSPOT and figured out its configuration and got the Bay-Net 31075 talkgroup loaded, and working. Time for another zone with your listed talkgroups.

Great rundown. I've used a few Yaesus, the 2DR is great but the usability and features in analog are better on the 868. I respectfully disagree with you on the software programming. Yes, some of the menu's may be different than the on-screen prompts but given the complexity of DMR setup, the software is better than the software that I had to pay _extra_ for on my Yaesu units. I wasn't going to bother with DMR after seeing reviews of some other radios, but this one has me sold. I agree, the build quality is much better than expected. 73 dude, N1CLC, hamninja.com

Thank you for the very informative video! I did purchase the AT-D868UV (and NA-701C) and have a question for you. At the end of a call there is a splash screen that says "Call End" accompanied by a beep. Is there a way to disable that? I get dropped reception if there is a delay when someone stops speaking but right before that Call End beep. Plus the beep is annoying. I don't know... it seems like so far my MD-380 is receiving a little better (i.e. fewer dropped packets) from my DV4mini .... maybe I have a setting wrong in the channel settings.

1. When the display times out, can you still see what is on the screen or does it go completely blank? 2. When a channel is broadcasting does it mute the second channel or can you hear them at the same time? (Single receiver vs. dual receiver) 3. Can you turn off the A or B channels and only see and hear the one set of channels? 4. Does Channels A and B contain UHF and VHF or are they limited to UHF or VHF only? In your future videos I recommend addressing these issues....
@K0LWC4 жыл бұрын
1) You can have the screen go dark if you choose, or you can have it be always on. I have it on all the time and battery life is still great. 2) It’s a single receiver with a dual monitor. Whatever band/zone hits first will take priority and you can only hear that traffic. 3) Yes, you can set it to just be one channel/band at a time if you choose. I have a key programmed so I can toggle it on and off on the fly. 4) You can split them between VHF and UHF, they don’t need to be the same band.

Thanks for the video. I just bought one. I am having a problem though. It seems to have trouble or totally unable to access repeaters with even HIGH or TURBO power that are at the same location (almost true line of site) that have analog repeaters that I can access with LOW power. It works fine with my hotspot in my house at low power. I do notice one oddity. When listening on the frequency with an analog radio, The hotspot sends a short burst of tone or some kind of sync burst before it sends the voice digital data but the Anytone AT-D868uv does not send it. Is that normal? Can someone check it out? I have the most current firmware as of now 2.30. Thanks, KT6MJ Sacramento

I opted for an antenna adapter, www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LX1KJDS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 that convertes it to a BNC connection. That opens up more antennas to use. And yes it does screw firmly to the radio. But you may not want that option, just making you aware that is an option.

Hello from Littleton! - what about the NA-771 (15.6 inch) it is the one Amazon is recommending. I am new to this - and I just bought the GD-77 - can you tell me why I need this AnyTone versus the other? I appreciate your review :)
@K0LWC6 жыл бұрын
Kathi W NA-771 is great if you don’t mind the length. I could give more detail, but one major advantage is contact space. There are now over 100,000 DMR IDs for all users. This radio can store every single callsign with room for continued growth. The GD-77 can only do 10,000. That means you’re only going to be able to cover a fraction of DMR IDs. Instead of seeing someone’s callsign, name and location on your screen you’ll be seeing a string of numbers. That is huge, imo.

If you lock it using the computer software then it locks but can not unlock it in any way 2) using the radio in high or "turbo" when transmitting pops the message "please charge the battery" even when the battery is totally charged…. wth ? 3) even if you program one of the buttons to star a frequencies scan it does only work when the button is depressed, if you release the button the scaning stops. To put the radio in "permanent" scan mode you need to go thru the menu . anyone?

Since the time I posted this I found that this radio does send and receive SMS over Digital APRS, but not analog APRS. This has it’s uses, but unfortunately it cannot send and receive SMS through SMSGTE as they do not yet support digital, only analog. I’ll keep playing with it. Maybe my mobile I’ll setup at home can translate digital APRS SMS to analog just for this.

If you intend to purchase a radio buy the commerical model NOT the amateur model because they won't tell you that the amateur model is frequency limited to the amateur bands ONLY and not the full vhf 136-174mhz and 400-480mhz as marked on the box and their website. They may be required to do this by FCC law BUT they never informed me before the purchase....or I would have bought the commercial unit.

150000 Contacts is the same as 150000 friends at Facebook. No Company will have that that you use there Radio at Home or during the Working time doing Private Radio calls. This wish will be a prctical wish but no Company Boss will accept this. For example if you work at Mc Donalds as a Casher and receive the Orders over a 2Way Radio in your Headset do you think the your Boss accept that you communicate with a other external Person during you'r working? I think no. Tell us more about the difference between the Software Codec and the bad Audio on a Receiving AMBE+ Decoder in a Motorola DMR MotoTRBO Radio. The reason is that this Anytone (i think they don't develop Things like this this will made in Taiwan from Students they learn about that DMR Technology and would like to paid from People the are Manufacture in China PRC Mainland) Software solution not analyze the Audio what it shall compress so good as the AMBE+ Chip set. Newer came out 6Watt. Do you know why you can hold this Radio in your Hand? This are developed by a Western Engineer from Company's like Motorola and not a Softwarecopy of a Chinese Company Anytone, TYT or Kytera etc. Anytone destroy your Land and your Economy! Think about. Americas Economy is falling like a Stone now. Talk about the Situation that it is a need to have a "OLE" Function on your Computer this is only so if you have a Microsoft Office Packet installed the Software will not run alone on a other System like a non Microsoft Based System. So you must support Microsoft with a Fee for there Office Packet and that cost money!
