As a sports gamer for 32 years I can say this game is good. Some of the gameplay at times can be a bit wonky, but if you get the controls down right and understand the footwork it's a good play. The characters aren't gliding like some 2k games. The serving, volleying I prefer over top spin 25, it's more natural, the top spin serve feels like 10 seconds, and the McEnroe training, that guy is the worst. Regardless of the gameplay the community content alone makes the game awesome, being able to play with literally 1500 actual tennis plays with some skins looking better than the actual programmed players (Zverev). It's refreshing considering most tennis games have like 20 playable characters and top spin has community content for some reason even though every other 2k sports game allows created rosters. Ao tennis 2 is the best tennis game on the market and it's a solid 8/10

I remember this one being terrible. Sometimes, even though you were in the perfect position, the controller failed to respond and your player just watched the ball go past. I hope Top Spin shows them all how it should be done. Looking forward to it, hoping they deliver a cracking good tennis game.

You're too hard on this game. I've certainly had plenty of fun playing it (though I modified the default speed settings more to my liking). The errors and nets seem to be a player issue, I'm not making nearly as many and I'm hardly a pro. The main strength of this game is the Academy where you can find lots of quality community-made tennis players and venues. The customization options in AO2 are VERY good. Unless Top Spin adds actual community sharing at some point, it's going to be sorely lacking in this area.

Joe, if you have a semi-decent PC, please consider buying a copy of Tennis Elbow 2013 and installing the Maxou 2016 patch. You won't regret it. Tennis Elbow 2013 with mods is IMO the best tennis game ever. Better than Top Spin, better than anything. The courts all play different, shots matter way more (there's no power meter; it's all about positioning, which is how tennis really is), and the speed is a close to real tennis as humanly possible. There is a Tennis Elbow 4, but it's not yet at the level of its predecessor. Love your content as usual.

Agreed, game looks dreadful

The Academy was amazing. Great community creations. There are some blotches like the lack of controller response on certain points and no commentary. But overall, it was an okay game. People like to praise Top Spin, but I fear that it will fall into the plague, which is microtransactions.
