Though the joke would've landed better, if Robotnik's explanation wasn't delayed, but rather cut immediately before he mentions that Sonic is dressed as a "game show host". Heck, I already did an example of it with a friend of mine: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a9xzl8mDtdnOcps.html

That's a funny observation! Both Robotnik from "Sonic the Hedgehog" and Megatron from the G1 "Transformers" cartoon were voiced by the talented voice actor Frank Welker. His distinctive voice certainly left an impression on those characters!

@justinw7323 Makes perfect sense when you consider that Sonic is essentially Bugs Bunny and the Road Runner all in one; he was created as a competitor with an in-your-face attitude to a more child-friendly icon who had been famous for several years (Mario, Mickey Mouse), and is a super-fast, blue-colored cartoon animal who's being hunted down by an evil genius whose inventions always backfire on him (Dr. Robotnik, Wile E. Coyote).
