I toured a couple apartments during my stay in Houston. These two options are stunning (especially for the price given!!). See which apartment I fell in love with.
Also, check out my stay in Houston for a month in January:

As a Houston native…the city has doubled in just 10-15 years. Those same apartments would be maybe 1000 without all of the growth. Plus our salaries have not grown to keep up with some of the fastest growing housing prices in the nation. I am paying 1000 in an apartment that used to cost 600. I actually feel quite sad that I can’t afford to live in the new nicer apts. but they don’t build those for us. They are to attract ppl like you. But enjoy!! There’s enough room for everyone!

Straight up. My first apt in Houston was a luxury apt at $786 rent back in 2013. I moved out in 2019 but by the time I moved out my rent was like $1180. Ngl I live in a newer nicer apt in the Heights and pay $1900 now but my situation changed. Even still ya boy struggling and just barely getting by. Truth be told I feel like now $776 only gon land you in the ghetto somewhere.

I feel like this is sadly an argument everywhere. I’m in San Diego now (left Houston last year) and some places offer cost of living increases to help but overall still an unfortunate predicament. I now see why practically everyone has a roommate here.

“Rent this affordable”? Lmaooo 1800 for a one bedroom is ridiculous when my house in Missouri city is $1300 and 4 bedroom. Rent has increased like crazy since all these people from Cali and New York moved her and started saying high rent was “cheap”/affordable

Rent is ALWAYS higher in metro areas even before Cali or NY people came, it is that wages that have become stagnant in TX. You can blame this on the people who run the state and the companies/corporations who came for tax breaks and lower wages.

Hi Im from Texas near that area and I recommend getting apartments about 15 to 25 minutes from Galveston, that area floods so easily when it rains and there’s only one way in and out the island so traffic isn’t the best. Question: What do you mean by gross rent and net rent?
@Soul.Munchie
@Soul.Munchie 3 жыл бұрын
Gross rent is total rent. Net rent is total rent minus the promotions (4 months free). For example if the gross rent is $2700 per month but the lease offers 4 months free, it calculates to technically $1800 a month. Hope that helps!

Native Houstonian here and I hate to tell you this hun, but girl you are so not from here lol. Houses in Houston go for that amount and even less depending on where the house is and who is leasing or selling it. You have to be a norther or a coaster (east or west) to think $1800 for an apartment is reasonable. And that is just the rent. Most places require you to have your own electric, water, cable/internet/wifi provider, and you have to have renters insurance, plus a deposit which can be as high as a full months rent, and then have to pay first and last months rent BEFORE moving in (for most nice apartments). Forget about moving in with a pet because the prices at that point are just not worth it. Not trying to dig on Houston, but these are the facts. look into all that you have to pay for when apartment searching, not just the rent. Just a little tip to help out.
