What she said about the $441 a month, that's good/reasonable for someone who lives in US or Europe but that's roughly how much a Mexican in Mexico makes in a month.

More or less, that's how much a Mexican makes in a Month. Many Mexicans make more, and many make less.

Andres Reyes The minimum wage is about 200dlls at month, but, of course, no one earns that little in the city, for sure. The problem is that, in order to live in an apartment like that you have to earn 1,500 dlls at month, and would would put you in the high medium class, to our standards.

juan aldaba I was always told people make 100 pesos a day (maybe now its 200 because of inflation) but yeah Mexicans make the equivalent of $10 or $15 USD a day. At least in Michoacán the state where I'm from.

I mean yes thats expensive even for an american citizen BUT i would assume the quality of life in SF is about 10 times better than here in the south of Mexico. Even if you have money (which i do) , public services are a joke. Public transport is ridiculous, public spaces are often dirty, the list goes on and on.

Also , i wouldnt wanna live in the USA ever. I strongly disagree with a lot of whats going on there. I love mexican culture its just hard to live on a 3rd world country, even as middle class, i can only imagine being actually poor.

Don't feel bad, she's not really giving a fair analysis. It's like saying as an American I make $3000 per month or 55978.20 pesos per month. I don't know exactly but I'd say that's not the average income of someone living in Mexico but it's about average for Americans. I'd consider myself pretty middle class, just enough money to get by with a little extra to save, and my total bills for a typical month living in America is $2,000 or 37316.70 pesos.

Why are people upset with this video? She's doing what she loves which is travel full time. This helps people who are trying to do the same thing as she is. If you make dollars online and spend in pesos it allows you to travel more. Compared to working 40hours a week in the US and have hardly anything left after paying expenses and working for someone. Why do people have to hate other people who are doing what they love. 😒
@thomasherbrig4951

I fully agree with your comment. Although I can also understand if people which cannot afford living like her are a little bit angry. But for me her videos are perfect. I am in a phase in my life where I could decide doing like her. I have a great job, but as you said, all goes away quickly. Instead of earning more the solution should be to work less and spend less. This is all about her videos. Instead of living in the US or Europe it would be much less expensive living in a country like Mexico or in Asia. But, of course with less security.

U.S. Social Security Office policy states: Receive Social Security Benefits While Retiring in Mexico as of April 21,2010 If you wish to retire in Mexico you may ask, “Can you get your social security benefits in Mexico?” The answer to that question is “Yes.”As long as you have direct deposit in an American Bank and use your bank card in Mexico or you can withdraw your social security money from a local atm in Mexico if you prefer.

life is different out there.. I got lost for 3months and didn't wanna come back and I'm soon happy that I'm leaving again this December. for the price of a shack here in the U.S that it gonna be paying for 30yrs you can live like a king, build your own , (mansion).. my family has some apartments that they rent for 65$ u.s dollars that's what I pay for my phone lol.. 20$ hair cuts try 2.50$ .. but I don't think it's only the cost of living that's good over there, it's the over all tranquility and peace, time slows down soo much you could wake up have breakfast peacefully. everything gets done at its time.. I do have to say there are no universal studios or things like that.. but your life isn't in a rush all the time like it is here in the U.S it's all work work work..it's amazing over there everyone knows each other they have full blown out party's on Mondays it's sooo chill I love it.. oh n people are approachable lay back easy to talk to.. I can't say enough about Mexico

Leonardo Valle 53% of the Mexican population is above the national poverty line. From the 47% or so below it, many shouldn't even be there and live pretty decent lives, as Mexico measures poverty from multidimensional aspects and not income alone. You would know what I'm talking about if you've actually been outside of Chiapas or Ciudad Juárez

lordcycle go to the malls in Tucson, San Diego, El Paso, Mcallen, Phoenix eyc. Do you se all those Hispanic at malls better dressed than most Americans and Hot girls shopping at expensive stores? They are not rich they are the muddke and upper middle class of Mexico. The Rich class of Mexico goes to Europe or Asia. There is a reason why Mexico is one of the American countries that has most tourism going out of the country each year. Tou Americans have to pull your head out of your ass and admitt you are mo longer the center of the Universe, Mexico already has 1 million American citizens living in Mexico and the numbers are growing each week

A friend of mine from Mexico told me about cheep living there but his description was a little different though she does admit these prices are towards the high end. My friend informs me that he and his brother rented a two bedroom apartment for US$250 a month and that included everything. The household grocery bill was US$20 a month for two people. He has immigrated here legally and became a U.S. citizen a year ago. But that was mostly so he could work here for the next twenty years. At that point he plans to return to Mexico and with his savings, buy a mansion which he says today would sell for About $40,000 for a nice 6000 square foot home, a few acres and a wall going around 3 sides. The fourth side would be the ocean. He tells me that his social security checks will be more than enough to live luxuriously in Mexico and have a housekeeper. I wonder how many other Americans are contemplating moving down there after retirement.

That's a lie. 40,000 in México are 800,000 pesos in México, with that, you can buy an apartment or a small house. I live in México and my aunts house for example costed 10 million pesos which is 500,000 dollars and is a big house, but not a mansion! A mansion here would be 1 million dollars most likely, or 2 million but that's just crazy in pesos. There are lots of poor people in México but very rich people too. A housekeeper isn't as expensive here as it is in the United States, because they're just people who probably didn't finish middle school or high school, so they cook and clean your house and do some chores for maybe about 200 dollars a week. So, yeah. He's delusional.

Marla González You're the delusional one ain't nobody paying someone 200 dollars a week in Mexico for someone to clean their home, this lady just said her rent is 400 and that's includes house cleaning and everything so I don't think it cost as much. As you think.

Carlos Yáñez Aragón He's referring to the entire country. Say for instance, northern Mexican cities like Monterrey have a well developed economic infrastructure and have many, many modernized areas. I've met many from Monterrey and they tell me that apartment rent in the downtown and near town areas their prices are going up the roof reaching the equivalent of $1200 a month. That's similar to an apartment in the midtown areas of Houston and Austin. So space is getting tight. The southern city of Puebla is really nice but unfortunately the state of Puebla struggles with its economic infrastructure and their renting costs go about $750 to $900 USD. So trick is you have to look carefully toward where you'd wanna live in Mexico. I know for sure the border cities are expensive. But I wouldn't wanna go there.

Carlos: I guess that he means that depending on the neighborhood , some areas are too expensive for the locals. the same happens in Rio de Janeiro; there are some areas where the poor go only to serve the rich Brazilians, to work for them as cooks, nannies, gardeners, etc. Not in their dreams could they afford to rent anything in those areas. But the Americans can, because of their dollars

They claim it's safe but I'm just a little skeptical. But it's definitely tempting, bc I'm currently paying $1500 for a 1 bedroom apartment in cali, and rent is continuing to climb In this area.

Options along the border are okay, but it's a rough neighborhood some places, so just keep a low profile and you'll do okay and enjoy the cultural experience of being in Mex., too. I knew some that actually did that. Personally, I don't like the border towns too much and prefer Central and Coastal Mex. further south.

Good video! I love Guadalajara, have enjoyed living there, though I rented tiny studio apartment by the week. My rent was about $35 U.S. Per week. I always encourage people: if you're going to be in a Mexican city for at least a week, rent a small apartment with a kitchen. By having a kitchen it instantly connects you with the city and makes you more of a "local". That way, instead of just taking pictures of interesting food in the markets, you're actually buying some of the food and getting to know the vendors. There will be 30 people who sell tomatoes but you will find your favorite tomato vendor and develop a friendship and perhaps extended family. In Gdl, Mazatlan, and Mexico City I found that my comfortable monthly costs totaled $500 dollars per month, including going to the cinema 2 times a week. Costs tend to be cheaper if you can speak Spanish.

As a mexican myself, I can say that being able to spend heavy currency salaries in third world countries is the best, though it's sad to see that this is more on the expensive side for the average mexican citizen. I, personally, am able to have a decent living but at a very high cost considering the mexican salary. To make things worse, I live in the north of Mexico, where we have even lower taxes than the rest of the country and it's still rather expensive to have most things.

She is really financially responsible, and Guadalajara is way cheaper than Mexico City. But if someone is interested in Mexico City prices, given by a guy that eats out 2 times a day, takes Uber as transport, has a 500 ft apartment and is generally financially irresponsible but does not suffer from many restrictions: that'd be around 2,000 USD a month, ALL expenses included.

I have a couple of cousins who are working in that city as engineers. One of them was offered a transfer back to the USA, or to Sweden (since the company he works for is from there) but he has refused both offers. He says money goes a long way there and is able to travel freely. Then there's my friend from Mexico who works a regular, he transports documents of some kind, and he is always struggling to make ends meet. It just depends on how you make a living there, if you have a degree in Mexico it seems like it's a very comfortable option. Btw, awesome apartment. :)

Great blog ! You are very pretty and well spoken. Was planning on going to the Philippines for a year but now, I think Mexico looks better. I live in Las Vegas for the last 23 years and am ready for a change/adventure!
