Name: Emily & Tyler
Location: West Village - New York, New York
Type of home: Apartment
Size: 550 square feet
Years lived in: 1 year, renting
Emily and her partner Tyler, moved in together for the first time last year. The space was so unique in that it has three stories, including a mezzanine floor. Since then, it’s been a beautiful process merging their lives and things together into this space. Their combined furniture organically blended so well, they only had to purchase a dining room table! They describe it as their nest, home and love bubble. There is not one day that goes by without Emily on the stairs, expressing gratitude for their special home, and for the life they've co-created together within it.

As a person who keeps accidentally killing plants, I highly respect people, who are capable of taking care of of so many different plants. I think there's something very calming about this apartment. The words "little oasis" are very fitting. Everything is so well designed, practical and cozy but also very esthetically pleasing. I could never keep my apartment this neat and organized. I am kind of a hoarder and my aesthetic is basically a whole lot of different things. 😅

You can do it too 👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿 Don’t worry about the plants 🪴 you’ve killed. Every time a plant dies in your care, try to learn from that experience. What could you have done differently. For example you may be overwatering your plants 🪴, this means watering them too often. Another example is, you may be the type of person that needs “low light” tolerant plants and plants that manage drought conditions. This means you may not have the natural light source for some plants and if your forget to water them for a little while they won’t die.

For the W. Village, probably not…I bet it’s considered a 1+ bed or even 2bed with that mezzanine room, and that location is the best in NYC (in my opinion). From the floor plan it looked like it also had a small balcony, and everything in the kitchen & bath is pretty new condition and above builder grade.

It has a very natural organic boho feel to it. The tri-level aspect is very nice. I might suggest they consider a pro crisp air fryer since their place is devoid of an oven. My oven recently went out and I bought the air fryer and have discovered that I don't really need an oven because the air fryer/pressure cooker does it all:-) 🧚‍♀

West Village so yeah. A dream spot if one can afford it. Rents were always higher but totally skyrocketed after covid (which was the opposite of what many people expected to happen). I live 20 miles outside of Manhattan and can go in easily whenever I want. My space is about 800 sq. feet for $1,200. When you are a certain age it's fun to live in NYC for a couple of years but when I was "that age" rents were affordable. Those days are long gone.

I presently live in a 510 square foot historical flat and the kitchen and bathroom were renovated before I moved in. I have a very large serving window that goes from the living room they to the kitchen to help heat the kitchen. I have very tiny closets and only 3. This is the first place I have lived where I have a foyer which helps with added room for a vintage desk to hold diff things. I call this my stepping stone and my Giant Shadow Box. I have lots in storage and have only been here for a little over a year. I am greatly overwhelmed with how small it is and all I have. I was hoping to buy my mother's house when she passed away but I was not given the opportunity to. My goal is to buy my own 2 floor condo with a yard where I can grow my own vegetables and plant flowers that were my mom's favorites and or buy a single family home if the price is right I am saving up for a big down payment. One thing I had to let go of and I think about it tooooo much is a ratan headboard made with a frame out of rock hard maple and it was gifted to me in the early 1970s and it was made in 1949. I have so often thought it would be cool to hand on a wall. I will have to check out Urban Outfitters. I loved the idea of the dried flowers on the frames. I have one frame made in South Africa built by a village person. It was sold to me as just the frame and they were large and only $5 and I often wish I bought more. The street people in one town make them and they water down paint and do a white wash on them. I have tons of my own plants and all of my mom's and I propagate many vine like plants as they go great anywhere and I love vines. When I first read the renti thought holy cow but, then when I saw the side of this home and the location it didn't seem too much. The homes and condos in my area are very highly priced for rents and to buy. I want a large down payment so I can retire when I turn 65 and not have a high mortgage. If this manis good with carpentry he can make nice shelves for under the kitchen stairs for the kitchen things on the floor. A while ago your channel had a similar kitchen where a man lived there alone and he bought a bookcase and altered it to fit under the stairs. I love this show I always gain new great ideas. This couple made great use of their space.

Not in America, Julia. It’s originally from British English and they also didn’t emphasize the “H” until the 1800s. Different stroke, and all. Kinda like how your name would be pronounced with a Y or an H in some counties.

@@MiniM69yes, I agree. Traditionally, the H was not always emphasised. Even here in Australia. Hotel was pronounced Otel, for instance. I even remember, as a young primary school student, being taught to write 'an hotel' (because the H was silent). Most definitely, many Americans pronounce Herbs as Erbs. Language is fascinating! I don't understand why people criticise the way people from other countries pronounce words....
