I did a historical thesis on Bataan. The amount of insane atrocities Japan did to Philippines was unimaginable.

As a Filipino, the way I see it is that modern Japanese and Imperial Japanese are different. Holding a people accountable for things that had nothing to do with is not a healthy mindset. Evem so, I do still find it frustrating that the country itself refuse to acknowledge their actions during WW2.

That's all well and good, it's the double standard in that kind of view that gets annoying. People say it's all good with Japan, while still blaming the US for dropping two nukes on Japan. Like the US is the only country that should be held accountable for its actions. Same with the Japanese Internment camp in the US, while ignoring the internment camps Japan had. Camps that had some brutal atrocities committed in them.

The most enjoyable part of watching you react to the fat electrician is the fact that you're quite knowledgeable about the history. Most reactions are just "Oh wow, that's wild."

Wermuth is probably the only American soldier documented who carries two colt pistols in combat. Maybe even dual wield in close combat fights against Japanese; tell me I'm wrong. And sorry for saying this, but this reinforces McArthur saying "give me 10,000 Filipinos and I will conquer the world". Also respect to the *"fighting Filipinos"* who made the missions wermuth went in possible. They're OG GOATS, they built different *o7*

Yeah what Japan did here in the Philippines(and the rest of everywhere they took over) Very not great. A lot of people still speak Spanish. Both sides of my family learned, though my dad’s side uses it more. My younger sister still has to learn it in school. I went to the memorial for the Bataan Death March for a field trip back in my first year of high school. It felt really heavy being there, thinking about all the people who gave their lives so that I could be standing there and then, and not speaking Japanese about it.

Interesting story of history. I couldn't even remember everything we learned during highschool about this. It is not told how the story went but it only shows some specific information that are easy to understand.

You're not wrong, while I do enjoy anime and such. A lot of people just view Japan as a victim of American brutality because of the two atomic bombs, while discounting the brutal atrocities Japan committed to their POWs & to surrounding populations, like the Chinses, they also would hold nearby towns & villages accountable for liberated POW & internment camps. Even if they had nothing to do with.
