I actually know what paper the otter seal thing came from. This behavior was only observed in 3 male otters.....out of a population of like 14,000. That is 0.0214%, less than half of half of 1%. That is not enough to denote a consistent behavior. Keep in mind most researchers will throw out data under 5% when it comes to describing consistent animal behaviors.
