I think I have some Centauri motors from when I flew in the 70s. Great videos, the c6-5 was the most popular motor back in the day.😎👍🇺🇸

I hate how so many small things can completely change what motor you need. On a windy day, I have to choose a different motor. 1 week later, it finally comes in from halfway across the country and the weather is completely different and I need a new motor which comes in way too late as well.

This is a great video explaining the designations on a motor, however some rocketeers might want to know how to size a motor for the given weight of the rocket. I have a 12 oz. rocket that takes a "D" motor. When I launch it, it almost doesn't leave the ground. What motor would be right for it?

Oh there will be a LOT of motors you could use. The process of selecting motors will yield a plethora of choices. It is a simple process too, but it involves some software. See the tutorial on how to pick motors at: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h7maqpmir5OzqoE.html

I just recently bought an Aerotech SUMO. I just completed it. It stand 39” tall and has a 4” diameter. I am new to the hobby, although I have launched 2 much smaller model rockets a long time ago. Does anyone know exactly what model I have built? If so, should I use a “G” or an “H” engine and what type of launch pad should I purchase since it is rather large? I was unable to find videos of someone assembling my exact model and I had some trouble assembling the Aerotech SUMO, because the instructions were not the clearest and neither were any of the illustrations. I feel like I did some steps incorrectly such as the “piston” thingy and the shock cord and parachute installation, which are very important since I want it survive at least one launch and landing. Any help or guidance is much appreciated! Thank you. I need a decent amount of help and I want to make sure everything is all good with the assembly and engines before I blast it off.

I appreciate the info, but it is a bit misleading. "0" delay has nothing to do with a parachute. There's no chute-popping charge there. And the delay charge is not measured by apogee - it hopefully happens at or a bit after apogee. (Haven't done model rockets for years and I miss it.) Better to prep your videos before camera time so you know what to say and how to accurately say it.

I've learned almost everything I know about model rockets from these videos and got my L1 certification watching these..... I think they are great videos. Not misleading

@@SpeedBallRockz I like these videos. And the data is definitely helpful! That incorrectness may mean a burnt chute for a beginner - not a horrible deal in most cases. Thumbs up on your L1 Cert!

There is no ejection charge for parachute ejection on an xx-0. Get your facts straight before providing this type of info in videos.

Maybe you wouldn't call It an "ejection charge" more like a "burn through" as the thrust reverses directon for a brief moment. This enables the light-off of a second stage motor and the pressure produced helps in the separation of the lower stage. Now there are the plugged engines xx-p that have neither ejection or burn through that are used in rocket cars and rocket boosted gliders.

Actually XX-0 motors do have ejection charges. The last number represents the time delay. Motors with no ejection charge will have "P" instead of "0".
