For the next year, I wish this model would be built for heavy drivers, and have a version with a slightly bigger battery, to have the same range with an 900w motor in the back, and have the same 500w motor in the front, for a total of 1400w, and beefier suspension to handle heavy riders, you could opt for heavier springs, to have different colors, blue for light riders, orange for normal drivers, red for heavy drivers. $2000 should be a good price for that, i would also like to see a dual beam headlight, that has low beam and high beam, both being within legal limits.

Been riding mine for about a month now and it changed everything. I love this thing so freaking much, it's just perfect! With the dedicated regen I literally never use the mechanical brakes. It's that good.

I've got the '23 Phantom & I must agree. It takes a little getting used to, what pundits sometimes claim is that it's not as 'visceral' as disc brakes - but regen ARE if you use them right. I've put a little over 800 kms on my Phantom & even if it didn't regenerate the battery (it's very minimal regen), the application is incredible. It's like force building up. At first, you have to prep earlier to slow to a stop - and as you know, once you hit 2km/h you have to step down to stop it. But - once you learn to pump the brake to 'build up' the braking power, you've got an ABS system that stops you far smoother & just as forcefully as any disc brakes. I *can* get the back wheel to chirp a little when applying regen braking fully, but ultimately, I find I'm able to now give myself a considerable amount less room to brake. Dry tarmac with the stock tires - I'd say it takes me roughly half the braking space to slow. Being 200lbs + 20lbs of gear at least in my backpack, I'd worry about how many brake discs I'd be wearing out otherwise.
@636theofthebeast8
@636theofthebeast8 10 ай бұрын
@@NunchucksHabit Yeah, that's a good description! I'm surprised that the braking intensity increases as speed decreases (except for the last bit of movement), I thought more wheel rpm would translate to higher electromagnetic induction and therefore more braking force. My guess is it's a safety thing, you wouldn't want the braking to exceed a certain amount, especially when going fast and when it might be unexpected. It's probably a tough thing to balance properly through software, but I think Apollo are doing a darn good job at this. Maybe it's also to make sure not to exceed a certain amount of amps going to the battery so that would be the limiting factor. Yeah the battery charging is probably minimal, the key benefit is clearly making your mechanical brakes last much longer. E-scooters are already low maintenance to begin with, this just makes it even better. I'm not looking forward to changing the tires though lol.

Bought a 2022 city pro almost a year ago and I love it. However the main problems with this model was the stem latch and the deck latch. Stem latch needed tightening or the stem would wobble over time. The deck latch was just a pain. The 2023 fixed all these problems and they added some huge asks witch was a stronger light and handlebar turn signals. Mind you i still do use a super bright extra light cause i love my night riding. I've upgraded my 2022 handle bars and stem which is available on their website and now my 2022 is basically a 2023. Its night and day and i understand they didnt have this technology when i bought the 2022. But I'm glad Apollo offers the upgrades vs buying an entire new scooter. The upgrade parts i feel are priced fairly too. This 2022 City Pro with the upgrades is basically a perfect scooter in my personal opinion. I've cleared 25km (15.5 miles) on full Sports mode with over 30% battery remaining. I can reach consistent speeds of 50 to 53 kmh (31 to 32 mph) too in city riding and can hit a top speed of 58km (36 mph) at the right conditions. I am 168cm and weigh 79kg (5'6 and weigh 175lbs). The 2023 will be more than enough for most riders and I would say can almost replace your car for most daily commutes. Enjoy the 2023 City Pro people and ride safe but ride hard.

Do you have issues with throwing it in to the back seat or trunk of your car? I got the '23 Phantom & it just fits into the back of my '16 Subaru WRX without having to negotiate trunk space like put the seats down like I have to do with my '22 Ghost. I agree about the headlight. I think I have the same one (1k lumens). Apollo I guess had to decide whether it'd be a single stage "be seen in the dark" or dual-stage "see in the dark". I've got big complaints about the app, but that's another story. Trick with aftermarket LED lights, by definition of the tech, they run very hot. I put some shielding on the cables along the handlebars, but ended up positioning the aftermarket lights beneath the handlebars so they didn't burn through my regen/throttle cables. Might get a "above the front wheel" light rack, since potholes are really bad here in Atlantic Canada. I always like "more" when it comes to available range/power, but despite the 66km/h of the Phantom, I can honestly say > 60kmh riding is very, very rare for me. On 10" tires, that's as fast as I'd ever like to go tbh. The City Pro might be a better idea. Plus, the IP66 rating is the peace of mind I'd like for rain riding. So far I'm worried about riding my Phantom in the rain (IP54). There's simply more innovation devoted to the City lineup.

I recently got my City Pro a week ago, as of posting this. I honestly love it. I wish it had the same light design as the Pro model. But its current light setup is still cool, too. I dont have many complaints other than the "eco mode," having the lights constantly on. I understand Apollo did this due to EU regulations when walking a scooter. But for us in the U.S. it kind of defeats the purpose of being "eco." If you're trying to save battery life, why have the lights programed to be on all the time while in that mode? Other than that, it's pretty solid. People seem to complain a lot about Apollo having bad products, stealing designs, or bad customer service. In reality, ALL scooter companies are hit or miss and tend to all do the same things. I've been lucky so far with Apollo as well as VSETT. While I've had the worst luck with Nanrobot and Hover. It's all a gamble. Just up to the individual person to decide which route is the best for their money.

Once UK catch up and legalise scooters rumour is 500 watts limit meaning no dual motor scooters would be legal, I hope they rethink as hills make that less than practical and would limit us to buying the city single motor. And also makes the Segway gmax2 the better option price was too. I hope they rethink and allow at least up to 1000 watt as the city is almost perfect for us here with the full suspension, ip66, large tyres etc. my only criticism is for storage I wish it did have foldable handlebars like the Apollo ghost maybe and still not convinced for sunny daytime riding on the brightness of the indicators particularly the rear ones. Overall though love this scooter! 😀

Why is it a "PRO"? Even on their website, it just says "Apollo City" I do love how the regen seems so strong that you don't even need regular brakes... that one thing is a huge deal maker for me....I don't want much maintenance, just charge and ride... make sure tires are ok etc... That's right, there's a Pro, their flagship scooter, and the "City Pro", which is a 2wd version of their "City". The more modern scooters like the City Pro and the Pro, are likely to be the least worry re: maintenance. I learned the hard way by starting with an older ('22 Apollo Ghost) scooter, and the brakes were nothing short of horrific. The regen on the Apollos is better than anything else I've seen. It's a specific thumb lever (same as the throttle, but on the left) that's dedicated to only motor/regen braking. I can't possibly say enough good things about regen braking. You won't notice any significant power coming back to you, but you won't be using your regular brakes, unless you need to make an emergency, high speed stop. Planned stopping with the Apollo regen is ideal. Unplanned, you'll be relying on the disc brakes. Do yourself a favor if you end up with a Phantom like I've had for a year now - put hydraulic brakes on it or get someone to put them on. You need a specific type (not brand, I don't do that) of hydraulic brake set which I'm happy to share if anyone wants to know. It's night & day. Remember though, if you need to ride in the rain, avoid the Phantom. One of the reasons I'm selling mine (2023) is that I want to be able to ride in the rain. Had my '23 Phantom going 71km/h without going into 'LUDO' mode, but 10" tires get scary > 60km/h tbh...

The scooter game is very competitive nowadays, and for companies to stand out, they really need to make something incredible and different, it's just my opinion. Even the Eagle One PRO only has dual 1000 watts compared to 1400 watts from the competition. Design wise, it is outdated from my view. Your experience might vary, but I got into scooters in March last year, and since I got my '23 Phantom on a pre-release in July, I never touched my car unless it was raining heavily. I went on errands because I wanted to. It was fun to drive again. I went to the grocery story with a backpack, and if I needed more stuff, I'd make two trips (~3kms each way) to get the rest, rather than use my car. My electric bill went up about $20/month. I was charging two scooters every day from at least 50% to 100%. Only costs I incurred were upgrading the brakes & buying accessories/tires - which cost barely anything. Just get yourself a good bicycle lock, a good quality, adjustable bicycle headlight (1k lumens is not enough for riding at night), a lightweight bicycle helmet that won't be too hot or heavy, a portable, battery powered air pump (with a quick release valve or nothing) & a Samsung/Apple tracking tag if you worry about theft. I got a stem bag as well, great for carrying tools.

I love riding my dual motor Apollo City Pro 2023, but I can't anymore. After 2 months, and 640 km, far from the 10,000 km limit, my new Apollo City Pro 2023 has been retired. The locking mechanism latch snapped off at the bolt while I was riding (the big solid hook latch is held by this bolt). Luckily, I was only going 5-8 kmph crossing an intersection with pedestrians, and nowhere near the max of 50+ kmph. Apollo has offered to replace my City Pro 2023 with a brand new one, and to have mine returned to examine the issue. If this is the same mechanism with the more expensive, Apollo Pro, you all have been warned... The pluses mentioned in this video are legit, but there are some issues to be aware of: - The kickstand was very bendy and flexible out of the box, it was something I noticed was off right away, and broke within a week (no added weight ever when engaged), so I pretty much didn't have a working kickstand for the entire time I owned it. Could just be me, but it is what it is. - When the kickstand broke, it caused my turn signal cover to break off when it fell on its' side (turn signal still worked, used clear tape to cover it). - The clip-style deck latch, used to secure the stem in place when folded also broke due to side-to-side movement in the cargo trunk of my SUV (probably being pressed up against other stuff), the steel pin is close to the outer edge of the stem, and busted out of the stem (still there, just one side is out). - The app-lock has a major flaw: It locks the wheels when turned on, and the lock can only be turned off via the app, but anyone can just turn off the scooter, and the lock on the wheels are disabled, so thieves can wheel it away, they just won't be able to do anything with the scooter except use it for parts. I've been waiting on the kickstand and turn signal cover replacement for the last 2 months, but it appears I won't have to anymore, as its' going to be returned. I'm not bitter at Apollo, I'm just stating my experience. Their customer service has been responsive, professional, and courteous. At the same time, none of my issues were resolved during the time of my ownership. Still, I'm looking forward to my new Apollo City Pro 2023 unit, as it does look and ride amazing, but I'm gonna be a lot more cautious this time around. Also to note, almost all (99%) of my rides are for the purposes of commuting only, on paved bike routes/lanes, and not recreational, or off road.

Haha…”designed in Canada”. You guys are hilarious. It’s designed in China by QMY, rebranded by Apollo.

Apollo's site is fairly admant about this being Designed in Canada. QMY's site also has what looks like a m365 clone a Ninebot Max clone and a clone of another popular scooter. Could the QMY you're thinking of be a clone? -Paul

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide I’ve spoken with the folks at QMY who confirmed the City is their L9C model rebranded. They designed it and manufacture it.

Apollo used to rebadge scooters, but they are now designed in-house.
