i bet you if you were to eyedropper tool the hue of the paper at that point that it'd be a grey-purple, yeah. actually funny, because that kind of colour perception is really useful for artists when it comes to replicating light and shadow accurately.

@Syntex366 This is known as a memory entanglement, it's common in neural networks with too few neurons to properly store everything. Basically two or more memories will occupy the same space causing them to become mixed up. Bird brains are hyper-optimized so I wouldn't be surprised if their brains worked entanglements into the process to save on space. Either way, that bird's mental capabilities are being pushed way past what they would need in the wild, so mistakes are going to happen.

I like that one too. It’s clear Apollo learned the whole phrase about the book as if it was one word. I imagine in his brain he thinks “Thisisabook” when asked about the book, but since we interpret it as separate words, he’s not wrong.

fun fact, birds can see colors more vibrantly than humans and can also see a color called "ultra violet" so apollo might actually see purple when you ask him about certain colors. of course by what i'll call conditioning (which is by no means a term that is used to harm, it's actually used a lot in animal research) apollo has learned to say colors based on your reactions to what he said
