Meet Apollo our baby Double Yellow Headed Amazon Parrot. I had just given him a little spritz bath in the shower and he decided to sing and chat with me! Watch for us alternating versus on a song or two. Hope you enjoy

@Falkjar LOL! Yeah he was only 18 months here. He's now 2 years and talks and sings even more. He now chants "Lets Go Yankees - Cluck, cluck, cluck-cluck-cluck!" and then goes right into signing Take me out to the ballgame. Gotta love him!

I am so glad everyone is enjoying our boy, Apollo. A few months ago we adopted another double yellow-head Amazon, named Emma. She and Apollo have become chatterboxes! In the next few weeks, I hope to capture some good video of the two of them talking and singing to each other!

Hello, I just saw your video about Apollo, I have one of those birds and he is one year old now, my question is how can teach him NOT to bite, he is a hands full, I really appreciate any feedback or tips you can give me.

@zeusshelby Keep singing to your bird or pick phrases and repeat them and then just leave him. That's how I teach Apollo. Currently, we are learning to sign "You are my sunshine" and he is catching on pretty well. Takes time though. Just be patient!

Yes and no. The double yellow and the lesser known yellow shouldered are variations of the same Amazon parrot. The difference is the shoulder coverlets. The more common double yellow has red coverlets (like Apollo). In the yellow shouldered, these feathers are, well, yellow. Most of the markings are pretty much the same. With the double yellow, the green head and neck feathers molt out over the years and generally grow back in yellow.

Did you get this bird as a newborn? Did you name him? I ask because my yellow naped Amazon named Apollo, is out there somewhere and I have no idea where he could be. It's a complicated story but I figured I would ask . He's singing all the songs that he sang when I had mine. He constantly sang Take me out to the ball game. That was his favorite. I just had to ask . I had four large parrots and had to get rid of the three largest . I knew I was doing the right thing at the time. It's a sad story but I do enjoy my African Senegal who talks a lot. But I miss my other birds terribly and would love to be able to know they were all in loving homes.

Hi. Yes, we got him as a baby. He is still a baby in this video. He is also a double-yellow headed amazon. Not a yellow nape. I am sorry you had to rehome your babies. I know that's hard. :-(

Right now, the front half of Apollo's head is completely yellow and it's beginning to run down his chin and toward the back of his head. When we first met him as a baby, he had a big yellow spot on the top of his head. So it's a process. In can take years before he gets all of his yellow in.

luv ur bird but isnt this a yellow shourldered amazon? jus asking?

Wrong. He actually he IS a male Amazon but thanks for watching.

I have one or two other videos of my Apollo which can be viewed from my channel, if that's what you mean. Is there another talking Amazon named Apollo? I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was!

Apollo does seem to be an appropriate name for a bird with a sunburst on his face/head.
