Apologetics with Preston Perry

Apologetics with Preston Perry

Күн бұрын

In this conversation, Preston talks with a young man who identifies as agnostic. Throughout the conversation, they discuss and grapple with the true meaning of faith, and the true meaning of agnosticism, as Preston encourages him to give more authority to the God in which he believes his morality comes from.

You have to understand that the church is a neutral ground. All of you guys that say "'we are the church" are telling the truth, however a lot of u guys saying this would not let drug dealers, drug addicts, prostitutes, homosexuals, etc in your house. The Church is a place where anyone can go to get saved, or hear the good news!

Very respectful the way in which Preston Perry spoke with this young man. A clear representation of Jesus. Jesus spoke with those who did not believe, those who were hurting, and those who questioned him also; yet he never condemned, never talked down to them. Jesus gave hope, and Preston has done the same here. Never once raised his voice, changed his tone or belittled this young man or his beliefs. Thank you for a prime example of how to do apologetics effectively. This should be required material in apologetics courses. Great questions, and incredible listening skills. I believe God is well pleased with you, Preston Perry.

Excellent work brother... one thing I would like to see you add to this type of conversation is sin. One can not understand their need for Jesus or the gospel without an understanding of our fallen state. He claimed to have righteous morality and you explained the origin of it but didn't, atleast on camera, explain that our inability to keep Gods commandments has us at enmity with a perfect God. I know when witnessing you have to use discernment but it's vital for him to see his need for the cross. I truly enjoy your videos and will be praying for your ministry. God Bless!

I have been given a very similar apologetic. I was a staunch scientific atheist Jew who thought Jesus was completely fictional. Had I wanted a god, which I adamantly did NOT, the last god I would’ve chosen would have been Jesus. I chose Jesus because He is true. He gave me hard evidence when I wasn’t even looking for any. I chose Him because He chose me and gave me proof. Now I follow Him not only because He’s Truth, but because I love Him. But He loves me first. So, if you want to talk, let’s do it. He started downloading things that I’d never known or studied, so I can make no personal claim to this knowledge. It’s all from God and I can explain why Jesus IS truly The Truth, The Way and The Life and that there is no other way to the Father but through Him. I used to be a dying Jewish atheist and now I live for The King of The Jews. Let’s talk!

People will pay money to read a book then pay more money to watch the Hollywood adaptation of the movie. In few instances they're identical but in most there are major differences (even to the point of changing the storyline!). Both written and produced by man.... People will still gobble it up! But give someone God's holy and true word, inspired by our living Savior! Hand them a KJV Bible and then tell them there's also an ESV, NIV, or NLT and they write off the faith altogether! Different translations of the Bible are one thing. Taking away and/or adding to the Bible to change the meaning is something completely different. But God is good and He is using Preston! Great content as ALWAYS!

This video was so encouraging! You can really feel your heart on this one not to win an argument but to win his heart.. truly reflecting the heart of Christ. A few things though... you say “I think” a lot and in my opinion it kind of weakens your witness... standing firm on what you know is more convicting. Also, I believe mentioning sin was needed in this scenario. He needed to understand living a moral life was not enough because he has already sinned in his life. He needed to hear that he needs a savior to cover his sins and that’s why Jesus came. He mentioned he had a catholic background and that’s not really discussed in the catholic religion. So I think him hearing that would’ve been good. Anyways, I love what you are doing bro. Keep it up!

For someone who is agnostic he sure does know a lot! It’s a great thing to see the things god has revealed to him bc the Bible says that god reveals things to us, but because he doesn’t know god he’s not sure where it comes from which he stated “it comes from within me” even tho it comes from God. Christianity makes sense in a global scale because no matter what you’ve been raised to believe or seen or your opinion, everything in the Bible makes perfect sense about evil, goodness and redemption! I pray this young brilliant man just taps into the Bible. He has potential to save his family and his loved ones! ❤️🙏🏼

As I watch Preston Perry on KZfaq ask these strangers questions about their beliefs, it isn’t to make them uncomfortable, although it sometimes does. This reminds me of Jesus in the bible. Jesus knew how the Pharisees would feel about the questions being asked but it wasn’t his intent to make them uncomfortable, but to really wrestle with the question and do a self evaluation so to speak of what they really believed. A lot of people could say they believe in a lot of things but never really get to the root of what they believe. Root being unanswered questions or questions where you are unsure about the answer. And that’s the difference between God or Christianity and any other religion and belief. Is that while an Agnostic for example or Atheist may struggle with these questions, for me, a believer in Christ, it can be answered. The focus isn’t to prove God right or even yourself. God doesn’t need to be proven right. But it’s to plant seeds and to spread truth. Truth being the one and only God.

Preston, thank you for doing what you do. I understand the path you were leading him down. It is frequently used by another apologist named Jeff Durbin. At the point you were taking him down this path and he did not quite get it, I think you should have switched it up and said two things. 1. We were made in God's image and that is why we all have some understanding of Gods morality. More importantly God said "I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them". 2. We suppress this truth because we want to be our own gods...In every discussion I've heard you use this method, it never works. It is hard for people to wrap their heads around. Simplify it. Ask him if he thinks he is good and run him through some of the commandments. If he has lied or stolen or ever looked at lust. If God is a righteous judge and he has to answer to a righteous judge one day he will be guilty. As Paul said, the law has shown us to be exceedingly unclean and wicked. God bless brother

@@vandykeebbin4762 I have a problem with this.. If we think that because Jesus didn't mention it, therefore it's no longer valid, how would you explain His conversation with the rich young ruler? Matthew 19:17-19 (UKJV) And He said unto him, Why call you Me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if you will enter into life, keep the commandments. He says unto Him, Which? Jesus said, You shall do no murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, Honour your father and your mother: and, You shall love your neighbour as yourself. @brandonwydeman3116
@brandonwydeman3116 5 жыл бұрын
@@vandykeebbin4762 Thank you for replying brother but I have to respectfully disagree on what you said. I agree that we are not under the law but saved under grace by our Lord J.C. but what does that truly mean. “Sin shall not have dominion over you: for you are not under law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin [break the law] because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not!” (Romans 6:14, 15). “Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law” (Romans 3:31). The Scriptures teach the very opposite. Grace is like a governor’s pardon to a prisoner. It forgives him, but it does not give him the freedom to break another law. The forgiven person, living under grace, will actually want to keep God’s law in his or her gratitude for salvation. A person who refuses to keep God’s law, saying that he is living under grace, is sorely mistaken. I could never understand why Christians who love the Lord will keep all the Commandments but except one the 4th commandment. The Lord says "if you love me keep my commandments" In the fourth of the Ten Commandments, God says we are to observe the seventh-day Sabbath as His holy day. It seems God knew that people would be prone to forget His Sabbath, so He began this commandment with the word “remember.” God said, “My covenant I will not break, nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips” (Psalm 89:34). Jesus said, “It is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail” (Luke 16:17). It is impossible for any of God’s moral law to change. All Ten Commandments are still binding today. Just as the other nine commandments haven’t changed, neither has the fourth commandment. Please take a look at this read www.amazingfacts.org/media-library/book/e/25/t/does-god-s-grace-blot-out-the-law-

The moral test is the best evangelism tool. It allows people to judge themselves according to Gods perfect standard by their own admission. He doesnt understand the moral law. He along with many people think being a good person and doing good works will save us. The Word of God tells us none are good, not one. Only God is good. Our works are like filthy rags(womans menstrual pad). We all have broken at least one of Gods commandments. Once we understand Gods moral law, only then can we understand we're in need of Christ as our savior and Lord so we can be born-again.

JUST MYOPINION i have & do, i just read it w an open mind, & while it’s an informative book, it’s also very misleading & there’s holes. A male energy, alone, created a masculine & feminine based universe w balance? A being that knows everything, including the future, allowed himself to be betrayed by one, no several, of his own subjects? “Let US make man in OUR image after OUR likeness,” who is us? If you can’t address all of the questions, then your response will be pointless.

D M US is referring to the Holy Trinity. It’s part of the prophecy that God had a plan for salvation from the beginning. When Jesus claimed His kingdom was Heaven, He meant it literally. Muslims can’t wrap their heads around it either. Jesus said He would send a Comforter after He leaves, that is the Holy Spirit of the Trinity. 3 persons that make up the Godhead. 1x1x1=1. Not 1+1+1= 3 If you believe in God, He transcends time, matter and space. Christians don’t claim to understand God’s ways, we don’t have all the answers.

This man struggles with what is authority. He questions authority and authenticity of the Bible, denies the big bang which are the modern authorities, then brings up the idea that books were historically altered according to another authority. He's stuck with man's old ways and schemes instead of heeding Christ's call of putting on the new self. Then he thinks goodness is internal and not imprinted from his creator. Isaiah 64:6 says our good deeds are driven by impure motives to begin with. We delude ourselves to say there's a God but then don't find the revelation significant enough to find the One True. It's a lazy response both intellectually and spiritually.

If goodness is imprinted by the creator than you don't even have free will about how much you will sin in your life.
@HeroC14
@HeroC14 4 жыл бұрын
@@suhae2175 If evil is imprinted in you by the creator then you have no choice in how much righteousness you do. I think both statements are true. God utilizes us as extensions of his power as he created us. No one is at their core, good or evil. It's why we can repent and turn to Jesus Christ and his image overrides our sinful image, as we become like him. God's not the one who causes us to sin however. We let ourselves sin and he can utilize that habit even for his purposes if it's his will because he knows us fully. We all have capacity to choose but there are times when he can override our choice to show his power. Otherwise there's no point in prayers. Jesus himself prays to the Father on Earth. Why if he is also God? He even tells us how to pray. Prayer is acknowledgement that your current situation is from God through the collective choices of yourself and those around you and your plea for a change in direction. However it's ultimate concession of God's power in your life and is an opportunity to reflect thankfulness and blessing back to him. Thy will be done on Earth as it is in heaven. He's talking about how the physical world echoes God's spiritual kingdom. Meaning during the physical we can change over time but that ultimately the spiritual will merge with the physical. So yes, God can show his power here and if you're good you will still sin until Christ comes and judges. If you are in Christ and he's in you through the Holy Spirit, you're free regardless of your sin or how much you sinned. But until then you'll be tempered in the fires of the trials of this world. You don't have a license to sin even though you're free. Sin always has consequences, saved or not.

A moral standard is only an interpretation of what someone can read or see I am a man that understands that I do not have control of everything that can be around me except for my own actions or words that I can give towards a moment that a person can hear or see to me So with that any entity I will question the Proof of the claim of The Entity towards mankind Because of what I was taught any King can treat their servants less than the crown that can be on their head But a true king recognized that A title can be given towards an individual that can recognize the Servants of people Underneath the king to not do harm Towards those servants Even if they think different towards the Kings thinking remember a crown is not earned is given by a group of people towards one person This is why I think Faith people when it comes to religion or entity Can you fail at the point of thinking with their own mine Because why would you follow a king that Would teach you to not treat your enemies With torture but you will stand by your entity to do it towards another person that could be you in the same place It doesn't make sense to me

God is a gentlemen, He doesn’t just force Himself in...we must invite Him into our hearts first. It doesn’t change the fact that He will continue to pursue us because of His love for us, He is actually searching the earth (2 Chronicles 16:9). God doesn’t want anyone to perish. In fact, scripture tells us that when Jesus ascended the Holy Spirit descended, and we were left with a Gift (John 14:27). So this begs a new question, who will allow Him to be present in their heart?

Another thing is that if people get a their standards from themselves and they can decide what’s right or wrong and I’m sure that they have changed their stance on things before then how can it be a solid belief system if it is changeable to what you perceive and believe? God is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow and forever and likewise His standards and morality.

Preston. As someone who been struggling with sin, but also believes God is working to help me get on track with him. I notice as we all do with things said. You're struggle to articulate the difference between having a moral standard to point Vs not having one. I found the easiest way to articulate this is.. "Without a moral authority/standard to point to, morals become subjective to each individual human".. I've had atheist try to tell me there just "moral absolutes" I challenge them by saying "Where does those absolutes come from? The ether?" This same concept applies to those who believe in "your truth and my truth"... No. There only the objective truth.. the whole "your truth, my truth" is nothing more than subjective belief..

4:30 What does he mean!? by definition you need to be in a position of uncertainty to exercise faith! If you have knowledge that god is real then you don’t need faith to believe in god. There is a difference between knowledge and belief. If you understand this you will understand how you can be a theist and an agnostic at the same time.

Unpopular opinion: humans are not as godly as this young man makes them out to be. This argument is not happening for the first time. People get interviewed here and when asked about their moral views, they make it seem like humans spontaneously decided what the rules or morality are. Perhaps its because the rules are as old as Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, we think we came up with them, but we didn't. God did. We each have Holy Spirit shaped awareness in our hearts and minds that tell us what is good/bad and warns us when we are about to enter unholy ground in our minds and therefore at risk of acting sinfully. That doesn't come from nowhere, and perhaps its because we call it instinct or intuition, we've truly convinced ourselves that we, without guidance or source, know the difference between right and wrong.
