Sounds interesting Greg, I just can't forget when you hosted the creator convergence and was out in the bees. I came over and asked Ricky, Terry and some other people if anyone had gotten stung yet. No sooner had the words left my mouth, the bees began to headbutt me and Terry.

Your Bees are looking good! I'm in Western Pennsylvania and my bees are bringing in lots of nectar and capping it over already. I'm looking forward to adding some new genetics to my bee yard when I pick up my nuc from you when they're ready. Can't wait to add the Appalachian mutt line to my apiary❤ I'm also excited to visit your learning yard!

you are going to love those bees, I've used vsh virgin queen to build up my little apiary and just loving how my mite counts stay low so I only need to treat once a year. This date April 10th is going to be the first time I pull a frame out of a hive this year. We had a nice cold spell after the beekmeet conference.

You say they’re Bustin early this year. Because of the bees base their work on the spring equinox. Just like Easter it happened early this year.

I checked some hives the other day and noticed a few queen cells with eggs in them already. Going to have to do some splits in the near future.

I have hives build like that that my father bought in 1980.. just went to the storage to see the sticker on some that we still didn't use.. paraffin dipped but I painted them oil based primer and some white top paint over it. Back then it was only paraffin, no crystalline..and since the 80s l repainted them probably 5 to 7-8 times. And my hives need to be white or the summer sun would cook the bees... That's how long they can last with that corner joint and if you take care of them

A nice mix of different varieties, strains, and breeds of bees. Lots of fresh nectar coming in and being stored. I didn't see any horseshoe capped honey bands, any reserve bee bread for a winterized hive. The pollen you showed looks like they are using it as fast as it comes in. Good choice of putting on a pollen substitute patty at this moment. Hope the weather stays friendly for you and good luck! 🐝
