That was so nice of them to lend you a hammock! It would be hard to continue your hike without that. You are doing so great! I'm sure you will continue to make adjustments to your gear as it is a learning process. But at least you've already conquered a lot of the hardest part of the trail, so you can have a lot of confidence in yourself!

Hang in there! I had to take two zeroes at Bear and Honey's hostel in Andover due to some knee and leg edema issues. It forced me to go slower and that really helped my then 53 year old body for the long term. Listen to your body over that first 300 miles and rest when needed. BTW...I split my hammock in VT the same way you did! 😉

Glad you're well. I'm following nobos. Most of the pains folks have are foot, knee. I think the shoes many wear don't give support for rocks, turns, ankle , foot wear for 10, 15, 20 Miles. Maybe mid light hiker boots, might give more protection from rocks. A lot of knee issues in older men. Heavier now. Fortune fell on knee, Hang Loose is off trail, knee. Others.... I'd think one zero a week would be good. Maybe add a Nero. For older hikers that may work.

Stay strong! Maine is rough. Imagine doing it at the end of your thru hike. I was exhausted and just surviving by then. One step at a time. I'm headed to Millinocket at the end of Aug to start a SOBO journey. I only have a month off of work so I'm gonna go as far as I can. Trying to get to Rutland VT if possible. Can't wait to get to do Maine when I'm much fresher. 🤘🕓

If you are eating ibuprofen three or four times a day, you might try aleve once or up to twice a day. Might be a little easier on the stomach and will definitely last longer than ibuprofen per dose. Better than that would be prescription celebrex up to twice daily. Safer for the stomach and kidneys and very effective. Great content, look forward to your videos every day.

You may meet/ cross paths with a nobo, Michael with his dog Leo (a goldendoodle). I met them in Hanover NH to help with a meal and treats. He and Leo are doing awesome! They are in the Whites now in NH.

You should be running into a NOBO hiker within 8-16 days. “Master Shredder” with his dawg Leo.
