These are an improvement over the 1st gen buds. kzfaq.infoUgkxK5mc3yw4xA7Mf2j6k6n1Uqv_KUgrKdeM Pros: The fit is fantastic. This is the biggest plus. They stay in my ears when running and become unnoticeable. They are tight but comfortable. The sound quality is about the same as the 1st gen buds. They pair more easily with my LG G8 ThinQ and immediately reconnect when removed from the case. The sound balance is excellent, good but not overpowering base and clean mid tones and highs.Cons: The noise cancellation is good but perhaps a little less effective than the Bose ANC on the 1st gen buds. Passthrough mode as not as good as the 1st gen buds making it a little more difficult to hear conversations when in passthrough.

This review was absolutely great, the methodology section probably caused half of the viewers to drop out or skip though, which reduces the chances that the algorithm will recommend your video. I highly suggest you do away with the methodology section on future comparison videos and just cut to the results. So long as the method is consistent between devices, the results are all that viewers care about. When you read a scientific paper, do you skim the methods section, and do you read the results carefully? Everyone else does too!

what a gem of a review. At first I thought it was a bit slow and geeky, but really you brought a lot of value. I would consider changing your structure / storytelling / energy to make the videos more engaging to most people in the public, but the actual content and substance of it is on point!

I’ve always loved the good old earpods. Apple removing the headphone jack was an absolute joke, I can’t even listen to music while charging my phone anymore. Since I also use my earpods on non Apple devices I had to make the choice of buying regular 3.5mm earpods and using the dongle when I want to connect it to an Apple device. That dongle costs about half the price of the earpods and I go through two of them per year which is starting to get annoying. I was about to get myself a pair of second generation Airpod pros but I’m glad I’ve watched this video. The regular earpods are the better choice despite the artificial drawbacks created by Apple at a fraction of the price.

Thanks for watching! Yes, Apple has made some questionable decisions which may have influenced the rest of the Smartphone industry which has moved in same direction but using a unified USB C connection instead for connectivity, audio and charging and the 3.5mm has largely been removed from all Smartphones. Regular Earpods are definitely a better choice for phone call microphone clarity and audio quality, though things like Active Noise Cancellation, best in class transparency mode and the convenience of wireless connectivity are the main factors of the AirPod Pro 2nd Gen that would have to be weighted and considered as well with the high price. @@weekendgearguideApple launched a new earpods usb-c do you think this new sounds better than the 3.5mm or do you think it’s the same? I don’t know if the so called digital connection affects the sound, I use mine 3.5mm EarPods in the MacBook and iPhone with the dongle

I agree with another person who commented that the methodology section seemed a little overwhelming for most people. I do think it has a place in the video though. I like your introduction slide where you mention your topics for each slide, but the results (in modern social media/small attention span times) probably should come first for viewer retention purposes. With that being said, the methodology still has a place in this video since it made it quite unique, but my suggestion is to shorten it and place it at the end of the video. Overall, great video and very concise, thank you!

I watched this with closed caption enabled. It missed some words but overall captured most of what you said. I personally think they all sound bad but is enough to get the info you need in a phone call. I recently switched to the APP2 from the Samsung Galaxy Buds+ and Samsung does a better job but its more sensitive wireless interference.

I have had the issue with the AirPods Pro 1 that when I am in calls while walking outside that people on the phone complain about cars driving by. So much of noise to the caller that it is not doable for them and ask me to call back. I am curious if someone else has that experience. Also wondering if this is now better with the 2.

Just curious - for the earpods in this test did you leave the mic on the cable hanging down by your chin, or did you hold it up by the cable closer to your mouth?

Thanks for watching! For all the tests, the EarPods microphone was left hanging down by my chin as would typically be used. I suppose if I did hold it closer to my mouth, it would sound extremely loud, which would be uncomfortable to the listener on the other end. Cheers!

Thanks for this review. I would've really appreciated another test scenario when walking outside with a moderate level of wind, since I found this is where all Airpods starting with the first gen Airpods Pro really struggle which forced me to return them (same thing with AirPods 3). There is also a longer MacRumors thread about this, titled: AirPods Pro microphone scandal - edit: PROOF I'm not sure if you want to create another test for this but the strange thing to me is how this is basically never talked about in any review I have seen and I am on calls outside quite a bit. The EarPods work nicely there.

While the introduction and testing methodology explanation is appreciated I think it could have been skipped and just written in the description. The recommendation is weird since the wired outperformed both airpods in your testing criteria why wasn't it recommended?

Thanks for watching and the feedback! Yes, I believe I should have put at least the detailed test methodology in a separate short video. My original intention was to be fully transparent with how I test so users watching and perhaps other reviewers can re-use, reproduce and be more informed of how to properly test (as I see many reviewers not properly testing and just recording a self video, which uses 1 way A2DP and different HQ codec like AAC or SBC, which is not the protocol used for phone calls and video calls so their tests are not representative of real call scenarios). Otherwise, you get a bad recommendation like I did when I bought the Jabra Elite 7 Pro based on rtings.com recommendation, only to have people complain about my phone calls. More importantly, I'm hoping Earbud Manufacturers use my test methodology and take note of how other earbuds perform in my other voice call quality comparison videos using my test methodology, in order to improve their firmware on their current Earbuds and make significant strides in their next gen Earbuds to not only compete better but provide better voice calling experience. As for the recommendation, the EarPods were just used as a reference of how well wired Earbuds compare, but the main focus was how AirPods Pro 1st Gen compare to 2nd Gen. I probably should have been more clear on this in the intro, but thanks for calling it out! Cheers!

Is it just me or Airpods Pro gen 2 is worst then Airpods Pro gen 1 in a dynamic loud environment?! I feel like it's easier to understand the gen 1 and I think this is the most important thing, right?! In loud environments I can't make phone calls with gen 2 and be understood. I switch to phone and all is ok. This was not happening with gen 1.

airpods pro 2 mic is GARBAGE! i literally thought mine’s broken, but it’s just shitty especially when anc is on. however, i still love my airpods pro 2 bc the overall listening experience is amazing. apple should improve it on the next ios updates or in the next gen airpods pro.

My intention was to see how AirPods Pro 1st Gen compare with AirPods Pro 2nd Gen for users only looking for a wireless option but used the EarPods as a wired reference for comparison just so viewers can get a sense how much more Bluetooth wireless Earbuds need to improve. While EarPods sound great to the person you are talking to, they are not very good to use in noisy conditions for yourself since they don't have any ANC. Cheers!

@@weekendgearguide fine.I've an AirPods Pro 1st gen which is the wordt Apple product I've ever owned. I simply doesn't work as advertised... Had an Air Pod, liked it. Gave it to my son and bought the Pro as it was supposed to be better. My unit isn't. And, of course, warranty expired and it's not on the recall program. Returned to the EarPods for better calls on the 15 Pro Max. It's wired. It works, although wires always tangle. That's life :) Happy New year!

AirPods microphones suck! Very irritating for the person you’re talking to. It’s hard to fathom Apple hasn’t done more to improve their microphones. The EarPods work really well.

While the destination reveals the answer, the journey validates whether the destination is right and helps to answer how you got there and why you began the journey in the first place and what the experience felt like and perhaps lessons learned for the future. This is true for this comparison review, which helps show how we tested (which most other reviews do not reveal in case the viewer would like to try testing for themselves, which adds to the credibility) why we tested the way we did (which shows the use cases and relevancy to the viewer), what the experience is like (which helps the viewer listen just how good or bad the microphone voice quality is in different noise environments, and helps the viewer judge for themselves how acceptable good or bad is based on their own needs, budget, etc..) and finally helps make an informed decision for the aspect of voice call quality based on what they've learned in this review, for their own purchasing decision journey. Actually all I wanted to know was if the AirPods Pro 2 would cancel the bone conduction in my head when I’m speaking. Unfortunately that was not answered here. Your approach is overkill for most and I’m an engineer. I skipped to the end.
