I must just say I really enjoyed watching your video. Very refreshing indeed. Just as a matter of interest, Brewers yeast is designed specifically for brewing beer. Bakers yeast which you used will work as you have discovered. Bakers yeast is designed for a very fast reaction, that's why baked good like bread rise so quickly. Brewers yeast is designed to work over a longer period of time and a lot slower. I am on day 7 of my own "Hunters Dry" recipe, except I have added a bit of Mint fresh from the garden just to add a little something minty just to see how it works out. I only made a batch of 5 litres this time round. My next batch I'm going to start maybe this afternoon or tomorrow is Pears with Pomegranate and see how that's going to turn out. Thank you for an entertaining clip.

@@realitywithzee16 I will let you know how it turns out. Basically I'm using 1 kg Green pears, two Pomegranates, 5 litres Water and I will cook the pears for half hour, because they hard at the moment . 600grams Sugar and and about 1 teaspoon (5g) Brewers yeast. Like you, I don't have a big pot... YET... I'm still considering if I should add a bit of Wheat. I bought some the other day with some Barley (1kg of each) to make a Grain type Beer, so I think I'm going to split this one up a little. Half with grain, half without... I picked up another bean type product I forget the name but its used in real Zulu Beer. Its also a great replacement for rice for those who cant eat rice... So looking for a recipe for that. But that's another day playing around

I can't wait for your update! Is the other product perhaps sorghum? That's what we use in my culture for traditional beer. Please update me on any other recipes you try. I will go on the hunt for brewers yeast as soon as this lockdown is over, I don't think I would find it at my local supermarket.

Hey, if I stirred the mixture right after putting the yeast in will it mess up the brew? I used a 20l bucket and put 4 packs of yest. Do you think that's too much?
@Pyxe_ZA
@Pyxe_ZA 4 жыл бұрын
Kea Molefe nah you’re good to go. Stirring immediately doesn’t disrupt the chemical process, on the contrary, it helps it along. On the yeast, 4 is good, maybe just add a bit more sugar so the yeast can react and produce the alcohol per volume, and talking about stirring. Since you added so much yeast, you’d want to keep an eye on it and stir at least 1-2 time a day, otherwise your brew will build up too much ethanol

Hi Zee. I saw your pineapple video, i am gonna try that next. At the moment im brewing the hunters. The recipe i got from " iharare " a week ago. My brew is now on day 5 of fermentation. Zee i think your pineapple had more kick because pineapple has more juices than apples and has higher sugar content and the pineapple flesh is much softer than apples so the sugars are released more easily. More sugars released equals more alcohol😀 Thats my two cents worth. Any way to " overcome " that i chopped the apples and put in a blender with little water and liquidized it. So now i wait.

I didn't catch if you put sugar when water was cooled down but that's when I'm putting and if you mix the sugar in water but giving that a go and fingers crossed! Another one? I'm going to give it a try. And I think for 5L version, just divide everything by 4 seeing that it's a recipe 20L cider, so like the apples would be 4 and the sugar would be 500g and so on. Last thing I wanted to ask, before I transfer everything into our 5L bottle, can I first put the teabags in the 5L pot of warm water so that I can remove the teabags, Or must it be all in the 5L bottle or container?

@seanolivier4768 4 жыл бұрын
when you decant the "beer' "cider" into your bottles - leave for a further two days in the bottles with the lids on tight - if you want fizz quicker then don't refrigerate (if you do then will take slightly longer to fizz - 3 days or so) store the bottles in a cooler box and check the bottles by giving them a squeeze if plastic, (if the bottle is hard then the fizz has happened and you can refrigerate straight away or add ice when pouring to drink) You don't want them exploding (hence having them in a cooler box if they do then no mess everywhere) If you put them in the fridge after the extra two days this will slow the "fizz" part of the process down. Consume within 7 days - remember there are no preservatives in your brew so you dont want to get sick...
@TheSlingertube
@TheSlingertube 4 жыл бұрын
add a couple of teaspoons of sugar to the bottles when you decant. This gives the remaining yeast something to eat on and not only create additional alcohol, but the wanted fizz. Be careful when opening the bottles ;-)

Hi there, I made a ginger beer. first I made a ginger bug which I fed it for 5 days with white sugar I use a 2liter bottle container with root ginger(sliced), water and sugar cuz the ginger creates its own yeast ( for 5 days.) After 5 days I used a 20 liter pot, 4 cups sugar, fresh root ginger, 1lemon 🍋, 15 liter water, let it boil for 15 minutes and pour the ginger bug water which I created 5days before. And after cooking everything, let it rest to room temperature and pour it into bottles and store in a dark place for 2days, refrigerate then ready to drink. I wanna try yours

Why is it that our colors differ? The tea makes it a brownish color but urs look orange. Or is that pineapple beer you drinking?

i think you may get more alcohol if you leave out the lemon. The acid may effect the yeast.

Drinks that are brewed at home will almost never come out clear but instead will be cloudy like the one in this video, it's a process and a half to clear it up which in my opinion is not worth it if you mean to just drink it and not sell it commercially because it tastes exactly the same whether clear or cloudy.

Thanks for clearing that up ladies. A friend of mine in the food catering business said he is cannot get yeast from his suppliers. I wen't to my local PicknPay and the shelves were empty, there must be a lot of "thirsty" locals I suppose.
