@@gotechtalk I have the HP G5 docking station and the last Intel MacBook pro. Connected displayPort to displayPort on monitor 1, and HDMI on monitor 2 to USBC which I connect into the only possible USB-C slot on the G5 and having DisplayLink installed and enabled in privacy/screenrecording. But I don´t get it to work ... :( It does not recognise the monitor at all. Any idea what´s the issue?

Just curious - if the dock has two display ports - why not use both for the monitors? In other words, use two cables that have display ports on both ends? Thanks!

It's a macbook, for some reason Apple didn't make M1 dual monitor compatible, only the way to mitigate it is by doing some workaround.

Great video, Why wont the HP allow you to run 2 different HDMI to the back of the HP DOCK??

Interesting question. I believe they design their docking station with their forward looking vision. These days monitors comes with very high resolutions and refresh rate. So, to keep up with the technology, they might have thought to keep just display port for faster video transfer, my take.

I have the same HP G2 Docking station (Mouse + keyboard + ehernet + 2 DP connected), a Macbook Pro M1 and when I connect it via the USB C cable it dosn''t even detect it. Do you know what it could be? I use that configuration in a windows PC and it works perfectly.

does the image quality from the extra monitors go down using the hp dock with a mac book?

You won't get exact same graphic quality as your laptop when using docking station. You get graphic quality based on your monitor resolution and refresh rate and so forth.

M1 only supports one external monitor from a MB Air. The only M1 machine that can do dual natively is M1 Mac Mini because it has no first display, but there are workarounds online to enable dual monitors with software. The video advises install DisplayLink software to run dual monitors.
