I'm a lefty for writing but use my right for mouse anyway.... Plus this isn't the kind of laptop you throw in your bag and transport every day, so why not use a wireless mouse anyway? I do on all laptops.

It's much easier to move your hand 5cm lower and use touchpad below keyboard, than to move whole arm to use touchpad to the right of the keyboard. Idk, maybe it's just me, because I use laptop as God intended it to be used - with no external keyboard and mouse...

Apple will say that this is the same as their "touch bar". And they might actually deserve credit for the idea. Yeah, touch bar is gimmicky, but make it really big and allow the user to decide what gets displayed, well, that is a bit more interesting.

Apple usually releases tech they feel sure about. Both touch screens and fingerprint scanners existed before Apple shipped them out, but theirs were vastly superior. For Apple it has never been tone first, but to make it better (some things, at least). Take ProMotion for example, they could've thrown 120Hz in the iPhone last year, easily... would've had same issue as the rest. That's why they aren't completely sure if iPhone 12's gonna have it this year, unless they're sure the battery life won't be cut like in Samsungs, for example.

Great review. I just recently bought this with the i19 12th gen and 3060 GTX. Been working great and love the second screen not only for the portability (since I use two monitors all the time) but also the features that the second screen allows for. I love using it especially for video editing. Some people use it for meetings (with camera view on top screen and note taking and emails split side by side on the bottom screen. You can even use the Pro Art Hub to set up the second screen with "digital" dials and buttons that work with the software of choice. For example, they have presets for Photoshop where the dials could be used for brush size, etc. or you could customize and resize your own button and dial functions as well.

I am going to wait through October just to confirm if Apple's MacBook Pro is IN or OUT. I would love to jump now and get the Zenbook Pro Duo. As a lifelong Mac user, this is a HUGE jump for me. But it looks like the Zenbook Pro Duo may be the best overall compromise (productive mobile workstation) available. THANKS for the review :}

I met the Zenbook Pro Duo at a retailer last year for the first time, and as a person who hasn't into laptops and PCs back then, the thing just blew me away. I immediately fell in love with it. And now using the next gen but more basic model (UX482). I agree with Taran, I do Photoshop and Premiere Pro, and having an integrated second screen makes editing just a little bit enjoyable.

I got this puppy when I started studying Game Design a year ago. It has been my daily driver before the pandemic and will be again, when we can get back into the classroom this fall. All I can say is, it is an amazing piece of hardware. For my studies I have to use Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, Cinema 4D, Blender, Unity and much more. The extra screen and with it the extra real estate make my fellow students envy. I have so much more space to work with and can get so much faster, once I have set everything up properly. The full color range screen is also a godsent for someone who has to work with pictures and colors on a daily basis. Plus, when we have to play a game for the studies I don't have to wait to get home to install and play it, I just do it in a working room or the cafeteria. It is really unbelievable, how well it checks all boxes for me. Yes, it is expensive, but I'd much rather invest into a beefy working and gaming machine than in a blingy MacBook.

Pretty cool. I'd love to see someone finally put out a dual screen laptop with no keyboard. Active digitizer on at least one screen. I know it's not for everyone, but a growing group, including myself, prefers to bring their own keyboard and mouse. This would open up so many avenues in my opinion. Portable tablet style convenience (maybe dual boot Android or sex?) but ability to open up for a full 2 monitor desktop workflow when needed.

6:47 That is what I was talking about in a forum about Apple products months before Apple ever launched it's iPad. A contextual entry screen with customizable menu layouts that can be mapped to keys, characters, functions and scripts. That same post was initially held back from posting by the forum moderator for fear I was leaking insider information. The concept is old, but the implementation method is newer. Sumographics and others produced large magnetic tablets and pucks in the 90's with plastic menu overlays for drafting applications like AutoCad. I see these entry screens as a superior means for applications that have dozens upon dozens of menu commands and for truly unencumbered Unicode entry. Having to press ALT and a memorized string of numbers and then pray that the font set included with the operating system is complete enough to display Pi or a checkmark glyph, assuming the functionality was turned on in the register beforehand, etc! is a technique that should have been made obsolete well over a decade ago.

@ It sort of does, Apples 15 inch "pro" toybooks are supposed to be for creative types, good luck with that. If you are not married to MacOS this would be far more sensible for editing photo's or video's when you are away from home base.
