I think the iPad mini will come with the A18 chip. Remember that the identifiers for the M4 iPad Pro were iPad16,X, similar to these iPad mini identifiers. I believe iPad16,X refers to the whole A18/M4 iPad family. Also Apple wants to get rid of N3B chips as soon as possible, so I don’t think there will be any new A17/M3 devices, just as you said in previous videos.

It sounds like Apple wants to stop selling the N3B family of chips ASAP that’s why the Pro got the M4 chip so I believe the iPad mini will get an A18 chip and not an A17 chip

It makes sense for the iPad mini 7 to get the A18/A18 Pro since the A17 Pro is built on the N3B node, which would require TSMC to keep manufacturing that node for several more years since the iPad mini doesn't get updated very often.

it's been said before and again. TSMC wants to get rid of the A17 and M3 production lines and A18 and M4 being the direct successor to these specific chips, seems to be the "long term" upgrade. Also worth noting the fact that since the iPad mini stopped receiving yearly updates, the processor upgrade has been every 3 generations starting with the iPad mini 5 with A12, and now the iPad mini 6 with an A15 chip.

Just got my first iPad, an iPad Air 13” in purple. It has created some consternation with me since I have a MacBook Pro 14” that I sometime think I may not need. There is something’s that I do that require an actual laptop but it has me questioning.

No I don’t think we will see the A17 in any new product. Sound highly unlikely since TSMC want to stop production of all chips using the original 3NM process. I hope the new iPad Mini will use the A18 SOC. Also guessing the iPhone 16 non pro will be getting the A18 and not the A17 for the same reason and AI aswell. Also im a real wifi nerd so hoping we are finally getting wifi 7 in all new products instead of 6E. Wondering if the new MacBook Pro will get the Tandem Oled screen this year with the M4.. don’t think the M4 is ready for thunderbolt 5 but let’s see.. Also really curious if the TSMC 2NM process will be ready for the M5 because that one is promised to bring again the same huge efficiency increase as the second 3NM process brought.. so really doubting to spend a lot on a M4 MacBook now or wait for the M5. 🤔

I thought Apple wants to retire the N3B node!!? How can iPad Mini 7 get A17 Pro when it may come out at the same time as iPhone 16 models this fall or iPad Mini may come in spring of 2025? If Apple gives iPad mini the year old A17 Pro chip. I'll just give in and get the new iPhone 16 Pro, just so I can get access to the latest A series processor. I'm pretty angry that Apple gives the iPad mini the shorter end of the stick when it comes to hardware. I feel like every iPad should have a more capable proccesor than a smartphone.

Man, Apple is really pushing it with the iPad mini update. If they don’t update it until 2025, it’ll be the longest btwn updates ever for the mini… nearly 4 years! I don’t think it’ll be that long tho. I’d bet money it will be updated this Fall for sure. I just hope they fix the jelly scroll issue & make it compatible with the Apple Pencil Pro. As an artist, my iPad Pro is my main device, but when I want to travel light, the iPad mini is the perfect size digital sketchbook for on the go.

Unless Apple happens to have a lot of unsold A17 Pro chips lying around because iPhone 15 Pro sales in China were weaker than expected, I suspect Apple will stick an A18 series chip (N3E node) in any new iPad Mini. Looks like TSMC sold N3B production capacity to Intel for Lunar Lake, possibly also Raptor Lake, when Apple decided to shift to N3E to improve yields etc. Intel has more experience with EUV overlays, albeit in larger node sizes.

Yuck. I have Ipad mini 6 it sucks in games and heats up a lot. The lag and throttle are unbearable. The 60hz in gaming is terrible compared to my phone. The price is not worth it. I think this is now my last apple product. Im so done with their old technology.

I have 11' 256 gt iPad Pro, mainly for reading , mainly iBooks, in that it works so charmingly. Just read Sicily -45 by James Holland, so easy to translate, so easy to paint the word or hole sentence to translate, I am a Finn, paint and search what ever you want. I can read in bright sunlight, some prefer real books, I definitely prefer iPad for reading.

In one way it makes sense to skip all N3B chips ASAP to move on to N3E. But... Why A17 in the next iPad Mini? Here's the deal... In september 2023 Apple lauched this... IPhone 15 - A16 iPhone 15 Pro - A17 The PRO models will always only exist for ONE YEAR. So when Apple release 16 Pro with A18 Pro (N3E) and 16 with A18 (N3E) they remove N3B totally from iPhone. And for Macs, Apple is done with N3B (M3 family). All future Macs will have N3E (M4 family). The only remaining product that can have a N3B based chip is iPad mini and maybe also a future external Apple display. So possibly there's still some supply left for that A17 in iPhone 15 Pro. That smaller supply should be enough for iPad mini that probably sell just a little. IPhone's yearly volume is ~ 220-230 million units. How many of those were iPhone 15 Pro (N3B) between Sep 2023 and Sep 2024? 50-100 million? iPad's yearly volume is ~ 60 million, maybe more. How many/few are iPad mini? 5 million? I have no idea, just a guess. So it should be possible to continue using the A17 (N3B) chip from year 1 with 50-100 million chips to year 2 with only 5 million chips. Those 5 million (?) chips is the "error margin". Also, Apple need all A18 chips now for iPhone 16 and 16 Pro that are way more important devices. And then iPhone SE 4 in march 2025 with the same A18 when >50% of the yearly predicted volume for iPhone 16/16Pro is delivered. So if next iPad Mini will have A17 it's so likely with a September 2024 release. If it will have A18 it's a March 2025 release (with iPhone SE 4). The pattern for iPhone SE is always a march-april release with the latest "A chip" available but "binned" so a bit less RAM. Now AI will require 8 GB RAM so we can expect A18 (not A18 Pro), so same as iPhone 16-non-Pro. Notice that Intel will use TSMC for one of their chips and it will be "the hated" N3B. N3B is not bad in any way. A17 and M3 are very good chips. It's just that it's more expensive and too low volume. It's very hard to produce those huge volumes. Since N3B was ready 1-2 years before N3E Apple had no choice. Apple had to use N3B and Apple knew about the "volume problems" for N3B and that's why only the Pro models from iPhone 15 family got N3B. My estimates for yearly volumes: iPhone 220-230 million iPad 60-70 million Mac 22-23 million And for Mac the portables are probably 17-18 million and desktops the remaining. These volumes are the base for how Apple wanna spread out N3B. How they wanna focus. I think Apple has done it pretty good. iPhone Pro is very important, it's the flagship. And then all portable Macs, that's also important since these cannot have that M Ultra chip (with good battery life and keep the thin design). And Apple felt there's room for iMac to get M3. M4 would be ready around that 18 months after iPad Pro M2 so no need for M3. iPad Pro got a ~18 months refresh cycle. That's how Apple do it. A last thing to keep in mind is that Apple need to have some replacement devices for warranty cases and other cases. This is how Apple "repair" iPhone and iPad nowdays :) there must be stats for how many replacement devices that Apple need per year. So Apple need probably 5-10% more chips than the chips for the devices that they sell on Apple Store and thru retailers. So there's probably room for ONE MORE device with N3B and iPad mini is the most likely. I hope for N3E (A18) but these identyfiers reveals the chips (and also the process node). So a summary: Next iPad mini will have same A17 Pro as iPhone 15 Pro (sep 2023) and will support AI. And will have a great performance. N3B is the "hated process node" but A17 and M3 are better than any previous Apple Silicon chips. Only beaten by the later N3E. N3E is much better in all ways. But the next iPad mini will be a great update for iPad mini customers. ...I still hope that Apple will change their mind and wait for March 2025 and N3E. There's always a possibility!

The owners of the new iPad Pro M4 don’t know what to do with their most powerful tablet device, that is twice as powerful as any laptop computer, yet nothing more than a large smartphone. Until Apple loads a full operating system onto the device, with manageable hard drive, iPad Pro is going to remain as the clown’s smartphone. I can’t find a significant difference between my iPad Pro M1 and iPad Pro M4. In fact the iPhone does a lot more in some cases than the iPad Pro does. Some websites iPad Pro doesn’t open or load while iPhone does. Apple software engineers are having problems with incorporating the macOS into iPad Pro. The maximum the new software engineers can do is to patch up light versions of apps on the MacOS. But they don’t have the ability to reengineer the core system of the OS. Ever since Avie Tevanian left the company, macOS stalled on its butt. Nobody knows nothing about the macOS. The kids just keep paint-brushing macOS just to maintain the annual innovation. But no major changes can be done to it without the mastermind.

Y'all that toothbrush he is advertising is the best toothbrush I've ever owned. I got it a couple months ago when they first talked about it. Paying $70 for a toothbrush seems stupid, but it is the best toothbrush I've ever had. I really recommend it. The battery is great, the power and the customization in the app is amazing. I am not a bot. I am not being paid to say this. I am telling you that toothbrush is awesome.

It makes no sense to give the iPad a stupid brittle glass back only to have a slow and inefficient way to charge it.
