i'm planning on planting this one outside in the spring and setting up a camera in some kind of weather proof box and making this a forever project with yearly updates, lets see how that goes.
i don't know what kind of fruit it will produce though :)

No use..it won't be the same apple. The apples you eat are grafted trees. You're playing the lottery hoping for something that tastes good. Waste of time.

What's with the pessimistic mindset? As a gardener, I plant the fruits I bought just because I love seeing them grow and live in my garden.

It's still not a waste of time. This apple tree can be used as root stock to graft a known, tasty variety of apple to, even if boxlapse DOESN'T want to play the apple lottery to see if this seed produces good fruit. Apples that are no good for eating out of hand can also still be used to make juice, cider, or pies. And even a totally useless apple tree makes a nice looking ornamental.

Once when I was young I found a sprouting seed in my apple. Curious I planted it in a cup and watched it grow for two years even getting in the ground in our backyard. To keep rabbits away that winter I put chicken wire around it. That spring I took it off to give the tree more room to grow. Next thing I know my brother has mowed it over thinking it a tall weed. I must admit I cried quite hard and haven’t tried growing a tree since.

Its so fascinating.. I have in my back yard an apple tree that is 90 years old, and recently it had a massive redo and all of its branches were cut away and now it regrew new branches and the apples are as big as a average coffee mug! Used to be just small tennis ball sized apples. So fascinating to think tat it was once a seedling that got grafted and was plated by my great grandpa

In my home place in Poland we have a yard (my parents are still living there), and there was 3 very big apple trees. Idk who planted them exactly from my ancestors, but these trees were old, like could be around 200yo, and this land my family got also around 200 years ago. Now only one tree left, still giving sweet fruits. I'll be going soon home, because of my cousins wedding, and I plan to make a sapling from this tree, and take it to Hungary, where me and my hungarian fiance plan to buy land, so I will have a connection to my home, and my ancestors

@borislavkolarov6814

@@TimmMix Naturally, grafting could be a solution. However, my main goal is to grow one from seed without grafting it on another tree base. Grafting a seed-grown apple wouldn't be practical at all, as apple trees (just like many other fruiting trees) are not true to seed, and growing one from seed will not give you the same fruit you took the seed from. More likely, it would turn out to be a crab apple which, frankly, is not a good graft if you are looking for quality fruit.

Love the time lapse. I'm comparing my experience to your. I try 3 different methods to sow the seeds. The slowest was to just throw it in the soil. Still nothing for over a month and probably have to wait for Spring. The refrigerator method got abandon for the faster method. The faster method, I was able to germinate the seeds within 2 weeks or less. After getting the starter leaves, they are slowly getting their first true leaf. My apples are growing slower than your. This is probably because I grow them in the fall and using the limited sunlight. They are outdoor plants and only put them in the shed at night. I'm mostly using the Honey Crisp seeds because they got me excited the first time I had them. Will I get a Honey Crisp apples from seed...likely not, but i will name them Sugar Crisp or Sweet Crisp or Butter Crisp.
