Have you ever wondered: Can I grow an apple tree from an apple seed? How do I make an apple seed sprout? How do I plant apple seeds? Can I grow apples from seed? TKOR has done some random experiments in the past and in this video, we're just experimenting if it is possible to grow an apple tree from an apple seed. What will happen when we prep the seeds? Will they sprout? We dive into the basics of planting apples. All you need is an apple, sharp knife, ziploc bag, and a paper towel. So easy! Hopefully this gives you an idea as to what can or can’t be done with apple seeds. Today, we’re trying to grow apples from an apple seed.
This entertaining gardening experiment is perfect for those wanting to know if you can turn an apple seed into an apple tree, how to grow apple seeds, growing apple trees from seed, how to plant apple seeds, how to start sprouting apple seeds, horticulture projects with apples, botany apple test, how to grow apples, or how to make a seed sprout.
If you want to test something creative and entertaining or do an activity such as: science experiment, STEM project, STEM science experiment, science fair project, science fair experiment, or a fun weekend project...watch the video to learn more.
You can count the number of seeds in an apple, but you can’t count the number of apples in a seed.

I bought a bag of Pink Lady apples and all the seeds were starting to sprout in the apples. I put them in a small pot of potting mix for fun & they are growing like crazy! In less than a month, they each have about 6 true leaves and the stems are already changing from soft green to woody red. I've moved them to a bigger deep pot with compost in the bottom. They've moved from my desk, out to our little greenhouse and haven't missed a beat.

@buzz25

FYI, next time you try this you might want to plant your seed the other way around. The white sprout is actually the root. It should be planted down in the soil, while the part still within the seed casing is where the leaves will emerge.

Some tips: - Use coffee filter instead of paper towel, you can add more water because the coffee filter will hold less water - Add root simulator - Bring the PH down to about 6, tapwater has a lot of times a PH that is very high(Mine is about 8,5) - Don't use water with chloor - Put in in a closed(So it is still dark), seeds will grow faster at room temperature. - Hang it with some tape, roots will always go down because of the gravity, if the bag just sits like this the roots can't go down. You have to lift the bag every day so the seeds won't dry out

For those who don't know, grafting is the process of taking a preferred rootstock and binding it with a preferred stem or top portion of the plant. They do this often in tomatoes and a perfect example is the plant " ketchup and fries " it's a tomato plant grafted to a potato rootstock and it produces potatoes and tomatoes on the same plant this is possible because the tomato and potato are in the same family of plants.

I find that letting the apple over ripen allows to seeds to start growing in the apple itself and then I just take it and put it straight into the ground. It's worked 100% of the time so far and now I have 25 apple trees. No need to wait for cold stratification.

DUDE that makes somuch sense! I'd buy bags of apples and I would notice the ones I eat later have seeds already sprouting I'm like "Wtf" but yeah its cuz the apple ITSELF keeps itself cool and moist inside which is the exact thing the fridge procedure is emulating!

Thanks for your presentation. I managed to sprout the Apple seeds without keeping in the Fridge. Just keep it in a dark place and within 10days found the same sprout. Also I kept few seeds near the heating point and found one seed fully germinated.

Nugget Master that's because apple trees for eating aren't grown through seed. They're grafted. Because of how apples pollinate you can't grow true to type apples from seed.

I was able to grow an avocado tree from using this process. I always like to start my seeds by keeping them in a dark room, dampened. It works even for older adult plants, because the plants and seedlings try to grow towards the sun, but without the sun, they will try to keep growing until they find it

If you want to try this, I recommend tapping the bag to a window that gets almost direct sunlight. This way it seeds up the sprouting process and produces better/ bigger sprouts (sometimes with roots). Don't leave them for a month or else the roots can grow through the towel and won't release easily. :D
@mattbecker743
@mattbecker743 Жыл бұрын
?? The sun wouldn't make any difference as there aren't any leaves on the sprouts. That white sprout is infact a root

How to turn an apple into a tree? Simple! Put wheels on it, but make the front wheels pointing at a particular direction, then line up the apple so when you roll it, it turns into a tree. Basic geometry will make it work.

Bought an apple to use in cooking, left half of it on the kitchen counter for 2 days and when I went to check on it earlier today, I saw that there were a few seeds that have germinated inside the apple… so of course I got them all out and planted the two that were in best shape into our garden. Not really hoping for much action, but I must admit that it was nice to grow something that might one day bear its own fruit :)
